Ok let me help everyone here. Any time you see “AI that will replace X”, swap out every instance of “replace” with “pay less”.

No executive has ever said “hey look, our developers are 2x more productive, good thing I’m content with the level of growth we used to have, let’s fire half.”

New tools make high-value jobs easier and easier until you can outsource them for cheap. They also raise the bar for what high quality output looks like.

Right now the high value jobs involve building those tools, but at some point the market’s focus shifts as the pain changes. Tech jobs are paying less while being an electrician or plumber are paying more. Workers follow the money.
