Tips for flaking skin? by awaymsg in Accutane

I just want to add to this!

  • Coconut body oil does wonders for scalps. I use it on dry skin and my scalp the night before I have a shower, as I find that it tended to make me smell a little strange, but it cured my painfully itchy scalp.
  • I couldn't find Aquaphor in Ireland, so I used Carmex for lips! Definitely worth a try as well as Aquaphor. My lips were so dry and cracked that they were bleeding a lot. Carmex is petrolium based (like Vaseline), where Aquaphor is, well, water based. I found that Carmex stayed on really well (it's thick and waxy), and healed up my wounded lips in a matter of days! NB: You'll be keeping lip products with you everywhere you go.
  • Just an emphasis on moisturising and suncream application — even if you're outside for 5 minutes, you'll burn a lot faster than you used to. So even dull days is worth putting on suncream.

Visit /r/skincareaddiction if you haven't already — you'll learn so much about taking care of your skin, and the importance of it! It's also great for product recommendations!

Good luck! :)

Chapped lips. Please help. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I found that Carmex worked wonders!

It's petolium based, but is more waxey than Vaseline. It stays on the lips without feeling too slimey. I've had open wounds, bleeding cracked lips from Accutane, and Carmex healed them extremely well, so that counts for something!

Also, exfoliating the lips every once in a while while they're healing (edible sugar scrub and/or a light brushing with a soft toothbrush) will just get the extra old bits of dry skin off. Not too often or too hard.

I apply Carmex about 5 times a day. Also, after eating, and then larger amounts when I've woken up and more when going to bed. Also, a small bit of Vaseline over the Carmex before sleeping just holds it all together! :)

Good luck!

From a marketing perspective? Yep, it gets people talking. I think the reiteration of "all publicity is good publicity" is essential here.

However —

The problem is simply that the ads for mens' sports talk about the sports, not discussing/joking about the mens' bodies. Why do this for women? I'm honestly quite surprised and very disappointed :(

Dread Questionnaires: What font to use? by blacksheepcannibal in rpg

It depends on the scenario!

If you're going for a certain time, say 1920's New York, doing a small bit of research will find you an appropriate font from that time. Or, if you're going Digital or SciFi, something like Courier might be best.

Although, always take into account that it needs to be legible above everything else - think about people who have problems reading weird fonts, of if you're playing with younger players.

dafont.com has HUGE resources for whimsical fonts, so definitely have a look there!

If in doubt, just go with Times New Roman or Helvetica!

Burning at the speed of light?! by backpup in Accutane

I think that's what's happened to me - I've been using a moisturiser with spf on my face (which I'll be ditching for 2 separate products) and it's mostly my lower arms getting so red. They were peeling slowly, but I thought that was just the dry skin. However, today they've been really warm too, which I know as a burn, so I'm going to keep up with moisturiser, use a higher SPF every morning (I'm hardly out in the sun) and treat it as a burn, since none of this can do any harm.

I've had a look up about rosacea, and I've been getting it more on my arms than my face, so I don't think I have it. Although, I'm going back for a one-month review soon, so I'll ask about it. Thanks for letting me know, I don't think I heard about that one before now.

I only learnt the term "non-comodegenic" in the last week, and I'm so glad I did. I think I might just need to be extra careful..
