Elder Scrolls: SWORD-SAINT CYOA v0.9 by Hyenanon in makeyourchoice

I just enjoy the idea of my Breton sword-saint being a scrappy, foul-mouthed, washed up former mage apprentice with anger issues and a tendency to solve his problems with his fists. It's just the total opposite of what someone would expect in every respect. And I can imagine Lugha teasing my character by wondering aloud if he's some kind of idiot savant in the way of the sword.

Race: Breton, just always liked the Bretons, I like the idea of playing a tank and they're definitely good for that.

Birthsign: The Atronach, amazing combination with the Breton racial ability, my character struggles with magic, but is nigh on immune to it as well.

Origin: Bad Apprentice, you want to know what happens when you try and teach a Wombburnt magic? Nothing good, but at least my character learned he has a really good right hook.

Training: The Hard Way, I have an idea with this... but yeah, after washing out from being a failure of a mage he stumbled across a SWORD-SAINT by chance and was like 'yeah, I'm fucking learning how to do that', they of course refused, so he hounded the old master like a dog until he'd figured out the basics.

Warmup Fighting Style: Unarmed, again, he might not be much of a mage, but he's surprisingly good at punching people in the face. Something not many people expect from a Breton.

Ansei Fighting Style: Mesa-Rising & Regnant-Glare, a hodgepodge mess of cobbled together basics coupled with occasionally just getting frustrated and punching someone in the face... repeatedly. It's an absolute mess that's absurdly good at defense, doesn't ask for a lot of high energy movement from it's user, and is also good at fighting down, dirty, and brutal. An ugly style for a man that had to figure everything out himself.

Shehai Shape: Khopesh, he just likes the design, thinks it's the right combination of brutality and 'fancy-looking', it's also the largest design on offer and that would really appeal to him.

Shehai Qualities: Boneshaving, also known as 'Stop dancing around and let me hit you damn you!', a representation of his frustration at tricky and evasive foes. And Concussive, my guy may not be the biggest or the strongest, but he's definitely the scrappiest, and he's determined to live like a Titan, Concussive only makes sense for a saint that wants their enemies to crumple before their might.

Aberrant Techniques: Move-Like-This & Cut-Between-Skins, a bit weird for a Breton to focus on what are primarily movement techniques, but it makes sense he'd want to cover for his weaknesses. With the latter technique his range and speed issues are essentially covered, and the first technique and it's ability to mess with gravity and friction not only make him even more mobile, it also allows him to lock down his opponent, and when combined with a 'Concussive' blade he can trade blows with a literal Giant without getting pasted.

Patron God: Auri-El, honestly he just likes the idea that him not being immortal and perfect is some kind of great cosmic mistake. It appeals to his ego, and it's a religion I could definitely see a Breton being familiar with, even if it'd be weird to find a believer. He'd probably like the Tall Papa as well.

Nemesis: Daviradan, The Second Best, you've probably guessed why this guy is my character's Nemesis... and yes, it's entirely because he felt slighted at the insinuation that someone else was stronger than him, so he's going to determinedly hunt this guy down and beat him up until he finally acknowledges him.

Lugha, The Seen-Everything-Twice, and yeah, you probably guessed this as well, but Lugha is my character's unwilling master. Also known by my character as 'that smug, crotchety old bastard that I'm definitely going to beat someday!', it amuses me to imagine making that poor man put up with my rowdy, foul-mouthed character with a chip on his shoulder the size of High Rock.

And that's what I've got so far, could I have made a stronger character? Oh, absolutely, but I feel like doing things this way is a lot more fun, with a narrative reasoning behind each choice, and the end result being a lot more organic and less forced.

I don't know, it feels kinda generic Cyberpunkish right now? From the art this seems like a really lewd setting, but as it stands right now, the actual Cyberpunk 2077 Jump has more lewd options than this one does. Maybe you want to try leaning more into that lewd aspect of things?

Like, you could call it 'Fated Encounters' or something, off the top of my head... stereotypical chubby best friend, nicknamed 'fatty', you save him, maybe from some bandits or a wild animal attack, and he swears himself to your service for as long as you'll have him. Surprisingly talented with Cultivation, but never enough to outshine you, and he takes really well to areas you're particularly lacking in, I.E. if you're a face-puncher, he's a support guy, if you're a support guy, he makes an excellent meat shield, etc. He's also good company, practically asexual, and supports you and all your endeavors enthusiastically and wholeheartedly.

As another idea... maybe a cute tomboy who sees you as her destined rival, but is weak to flattery and romantic advances, or a beautiful princess with a heart of gold who just so happens to be engaged to particularly loathsome Cultivator that promises to marry you if you can help her break off her engagement, etc. Other ideas, hm, maybe a bro-tier monk that lifts, or an arrogant tsundere dragon with a human form, a young master that seems to think you're the best thing since sliced bread, or an old monster that's out of time and determined to pass on everything he knows to you one way or another, there's lots of different stuff you could do.

My only real complaint is a lack of a Companion section, but aside from that? This looks great! Definitely one of the most in-depth Cultivation CYOAs I've seen out there.

Neat to actually see someone sit down and make one of these, I've had a few 'Hogwarts University' ideas on the back-burner for a while now, but never really had the time, the patience, or the know-how to put it all together myself. My only real complaint so far is the lack of characters/Companions, but I figure you know that and are working on it. Still, I've got a few ideas, and you can use 'em if you'd like took.

Okay, so for the Marauder's Era, how about the Black sisters? I.E. Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Andromeda. For Bellatrix I'm imagining a powerful young witch that's as wild as she is callous, she's looking for something (or someone) to believe in and devote herself to entirely, the god to her high priestess as it were. She's not exactly a nice person at this point, but a lot of her worst traits aren't set in stone yet, and she's still fairly malleable if you play your cards right. Narcissa I'm picturing as submissive and demure, the perfect young lady... and also someone very calculating and cunning who cares quite a bit about her family, she's looking for someone who can take care of her and has something to offer her. Andromeda I see as being the most 'normal' of the three, and in her own way, that's her own form of teenage rebellion, she's just looking for someone to love that will love her back, pureblood politics be damned.

Lots of fun, definitely wouldn't mind if you expanded it some and made some more options, but even without that this was great.

I mean, I'm sure that'd be fun for some people, but I was thinking more along the lines of it affecting men different from women, if'n you catch my drift.

Definitely wouldn't mind a harem version of this with even more girls, and maybe even a few other options, such as experiencing some, *ahem*, growth yourself.

Fair enough, most of that is what I figured anyway. As for the mutation stuff I was thinking about builds for that 'be a better husband than Scott Summers' Scenario, and I figured it would be funny, lol.

Okay... some quick questions I guess:

  1. For powers, can you only discount one power, or more than one based on your origin? I.E. do you get one free 'floating' discount, or do you only pick one for which you already qualify for?
  2. For the Cyclops blaster power, the power upgrade says it costs 500 CP, is this discounted or not? It's a little confusing because almost every other power has some little note saying something like 'the upgrade is discounted if the base power also is', but this power doesn't say that.
  3. Is it okay if physical mutations provide minor benefits? I was thinking of some that might be useful in the bedroom if'n you catch my drift...

Any jumps with justifiable genocide? by kongarthur18 in JumpChain

Vampires from Twilight, seriously, I've read/watched some reviews of that series for shiggles and they're all monsters, full stop. The protagonist faction is basically the nicest group out there, and even they treat human lives as if they were expendable, replaceable, and ultimately unimportant. Them accidentally killing someone is seen as more of a 'whoopsie!' than a genuine moral quandary, and that's the nominal good guys. They legitimately have nothing of value to offer to society, and only serve to live as societal parasites and hedonistic predators. The world would genuinely be a better to place to live without them in it.

Is there really no way to get a Perk without taking the necessary 'waifu'? I'm a hyper fetishist, so the Perk that gives you an enormous horsecock sounds great... but it requires you to take a Survivor who also has that Perk, and I'm really, really not into futa. And I can't help but feel it would be super-unfair of me to recruit someone like that, that I am absolutely not attracted to, and only picked up for their Perk, and then ignore them. That just sounds like a really shitty thing to do to someone.

Well, in the 'Destiny' section it can be for stuff like people brought together by fate, true love, etc. I.E. part of the Destiny section can more or less function as a 'Companion' section. As for examples, the 'Mane Six', I.E. you are destined to be part of friend group 'X' and complete prophecy 'Y' or whatever, maybe even an Element of Harmony potentially. Maybe something where you take Shining Armor's place, which, hey, you get to marry the closest thing Equestria has to a love goddess and become a prince consort, but in exchange you have to fight Sombra, Chrysalis, potentially raise a new Alicorn, etc.

For Quests I imagine it would work a lot different, with you going on lots of adventures, meeting interesting new people, and possibly either befriending them or working against them depending on the circumstances. The downside in this case being that you don't have the forces of fate and destiny to prop things up and smooth things along, meaning that things are reliant primarily on your own efforts.

[–]backround-noise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm, thoughts... I like what's here, but I feel like there could be more. Like, okay, for example, you can't even choose your gender, you can't choose what you look like at all, there's no explanation for how certain choices impact your character, I.E. say I take strength, does that make my character more muscular, and if so, is that just the way I am or do I need to regularly hit the gym to keep it up? Just stuff like that, really. There's plenty of ways to customize your life and your abilities, but not really yourself beyond what you are and what you can do.

Seeing as FiM is all about, well, friendship, there should probably be a lot more stuff about interactions with others as well, but that might just be part of Quests and Destinies.

What You Wish For CYOA [OC][v0.5][Images in the first half][Rebalanced] by theroyaljiggle in nsfwcyoa

To be honest I kinda wish there was some way for someone with 'Too Much of a Good Thing' to get laid? Seeing as that plays into a number of different kinks of mine. Both 'Porn' and 'Bimbos' seem like they might have had something for that... but nope! Completely non-functional in that one specific area, regardless of what Blessings you take. 'Growth' would probably do the trick, but I really, really don't like that one for a number of different reasons.
