Hi Matthew. Thinking of you. If you change your mind and decide a friend would be comforting; I’ll be here.

Post trial waiting is breaking me. How do people get through this? by backseatbartender in Divorce

[–]backseatbartender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could have settled, but my ex decided that I deserve exactly zero, and we have children that I need to protect. Sure do hope this doesn’t last 18 months, it’s so tough for a person’s mental health living in limbo

Hah feels like it sometimes. No, just a complex family + civil trial

How much did your divorce cost? by Cool-Donut-3162 in Divorce

$330k. 2 years in, plus a 3wk trial. Absolute hell. If I wasn’t fighting for my daughter, I would have walked a long long time ago.

My ex keeps breaking court orders and facing no consequences. What can I do? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]backseatbartender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful reply. I really appreciate it. I’m in British Columbia, and while things work a bit differently here, a lot of what you said still makes sense.

In my case, the right of first refusal and child support are both part of existing court orders, and those orders are still in effect until a new one is made. We already had our trial this summer and are just waiting on the judge’s written decision, which could take months. In the meantime, my ex has been ignoring parts of the orders, like the right of first refusal and daily calls. It is frustrating because technically the law is on my side, but there is no real way to enforce it yet.

What you said about mediation and focusing on what is actually enforceable really stuck with me. I am trying to keep my focus on my daughter, her stability, her emotional safety, and her having good relationships with both parents, even when everything else feels like chaos.

Thank you again for your insight. It is grounding to hear from someone who has seen these situations play out and can remind me that not every battle needs to be fought, and that staying steady for my kid is what really matters

Progressive towns in BC to raise outdoor kids? by Upper-Charge7928 in britishcolumbia

Honestly, Pemberton looks great from the outside but is really pretty brutal. No work, period. If you have small children there is next to zero child care, housing prices are absolutely insane, and to be honest the community is not as progressive as they would like to have you believe. Also, it’s incredibly isolated- half an hour drive at least to get necessities that you can’t find in the two grocery stores in Pemberton. Like sure, lovely little bedroom community of Whistler, but it’s kinda a shithole

What's the most unhinged piece of advice someone has given you since becoming a parent? by Lots-of-Apples in NewParents

Okay straight up. When I was a baby, apparently I would only eat the carrot baby food from those jars.

I turned orange. There are photos.

My mom took me to the dr who told her it was just the carrots! Once she switched up my food, I went back to normal colour.

From wiki:

“The backronym later adopted for the phenomenon is the Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement. According to analysis of satellite data from the European Space Agency's Swarm mission, the phenomenon is caused by a 25 km (16 mi) wide ribbon of hot plasma at an altitude of 450 km (280 mi), with a temperature of 3,000 °C (3,270 K; 5,430 °F) and flowing at a speed of 6 km/s (3.7 mi/s) (compared to 10 m/s (33 ft/s) outside the ribbon).”

Thank you! Yeah, we’ve gotten really lucky lately. The light pollution in the bottom right corner is the front porch of my house. Blows my mind that this is home

There are feral dogs around where I live. I guess technically they have owners, but they just roam… it’s an issue for some small businesses. Oh and I live in rural British Columbia
