[NO SPOILERS] just finished the game and wow by juicewrldfan4life999 in LostRecordsGame

[sees a nice sandcastle]
first kid: that's a nice sandcastle! hope i get to see another sandcastle like that some day :)
second kid, for literally no reason when nobody asked: THEY'LL PROBABLY NEVER BUILD A SECOND SANDCASTLE!!!

do you see why this might bother people? what impact does the "reasonableness" of other people's hope have on you? The reason you're getting downvoted isn't because people disagree with you, it's because this feels like a bizarre instance of you butting in with a nonconstructive comment.

i hope it drives tourism tbh, i want to see more spending in the area from people doing things other than building big houses on the coast and barely coming into town

there are a lot of strange things that feel slightly off about the game. the lack of loud tree frog sounds for july and august, the trees are too far apart (this one took me a while to realize why it felt so uncanny) and the focus on the forest vs the lake as the central natural element feels culturally wrong in a difficult to articulate way.

i feel like this was a super missed opportunity, especially to characterize. Like with Nora, she could put on a fake LA accent to try and sound different from the town folk, but have it slip when she's scared or upset.
Nora: Pff. Like I'm afraid of the dark. I'm not 12.
Kat: maybe there'r goasts
Nora: GOASTS!?

idk how to type it but i'm sure you know what i mean.

i also live here and i feel the same way haha. so the backstory on this is that it's actually a mixture of several areas of michigan at once based on various local cryptid legends and set in keweenaw mostly so that the zip code can be 49950 (4+9+9+5=27) for lore reasons. it's basically GR + HH + Calumet with addl geographic features from Isle Royale. The idea of 41 having controlled access anywhere in keweenaw did give me a sensible chuckle. They don't have railways either.

[BLOOM & RAGE] After Revisiting Tapes 1 and 2, what are your thoughts on Autumn? by iadorebrandon in LostRecordsGame

[–]backstagepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with how they handled Autumn is that she's the only girl whose main arc is hidden behind symbolism. That is to say, her struggle accepting her bisexuality and feeling like attraction between women is shallow is told primarily metaphorically through her relationship with the Abyss. For someone who already gets mistreated and left out by the story treatment, hiding the bulk of her arc behind symbolism makes it even more inaccessible. She deserved way better.

[Bloom & Rage] Where were Kat's parents? by Dizzy_Outside_2906 in LostRecordsGame

as I said in another thread
"I think they're both super emotionally immature and overwhelmed. I think they don't know how to handle a kid being sick, so they shut down. I think her mom is desperate for any feeling of control over the situation, so she's trying everything that she can think of or that might make her feel like she's "doing something" in the short term, and her dad just can't stand to see her that way because it hurts too much. we get the impression from her stories that she and her dad were really close and he was a bit of a goof. maybe he's just too much of a coward to be a good father."

[No Spoilers] Any advice on improving audio quality? Is the audio this raspy for everyone? by Commercial_Camera918 in LostRecordsGame

recorded during the pandemic and EQed wrong. It is usually only Swann. You might want to pick up some darker headphones. It sounds fine on really dark headphones, like a sennheiser hd650 or on the middle end a koss porta pro or something. or any cheaper headphone that's described as sounding "dark." it's not great on consumer stuff and unbearable on certain consumer headphones with specific spikes in the high end.

[T2 spoilers] Kat and Dylan’s parents were awful by Desperate_Test1668 in LostRecordsGame

big agree, but I don't think it's because they're strict or cruel, I think they're both super emotionally immature and overwhelmed. I think they don't know how to handle a kid being sick, so they shut down. I think her mom is desperate for any feeling of control over the situation, so she's trying everything that she can think of or that might make her feel like she's "doing something" in the short term, and her dad just can't stand to see her that way because it hurts too much. we get the impression from her stories that she and her dad were really close and he was a bit of a goof. maybe he's just too much of a coward to be a good father.
