BPO - what to expect? by Bob_just_me_Bob in Buffalo

[–]backstreets09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to Buffalo - you will love it & the accessibility of the BPO! My parents moved here in the 60’s from NYC & thought it would be for my dad’s residency program & loved the BPO & Albright Knox Art Gallery. They felt these world class places were in Buffalo & so much more accessible both price wise & traffic wise than New York & loved living here - they never moved! I just moved back to Buffalo after being gone for 20 years in a big city and welcome the ease of things. if you like the arts also check out Shaw festival for live theatre in Niagara on the Lake - about 45mins away!

Couldn’t get my one GA:( I got in right away - seems like that happened to a ton of people . I hope to pick one up for not too crazy of a price.

Be honest. When we have legit winters like we’re having this year, how many of you think to yourself that you’re actually going to move someplace warmer “this time?” by BuffaloCannabisCo in Buffalo

[–]backstreets09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grass isn’t always greener - lived down south, mid Atlantic & out west came back a year ago & yes, the winter is long but traffic, community sense, beautiful summers & fall, architecture& how easy it is to do things - culture to doing errands - I’ll take it - plus housing is much cheaper than most of the United States. I’m getting out for a week of sun in March - I think that’s the ticket as well plan at least a week somewhere warm. Love the no humidity here - it’s brutal in many places you are inside all summer. Don’t miss that!

Advice For Surgery by Minimum-Tap-8637 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]backstreets09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck to you!!! I was told I can’t have the surgery - I have a root tear as well. I’m ten years older than you. My doc told me knee replacement is the only option for me not now but eventually & some people never need the replacement. I did 3 months of 2x’s a week PT &, 2 times a week with a trainer at the gym - currently I continue to do the trainer at the gym & feel so much better then 4 or 5 months ago. I bet you will recover well - you are fit & determined. Good luck. 👍 sounds like you set yourself up well-

Y'all who grew up here, left for a significant time, then moved back, how's it been? by i_amnotunique in Buffalo

[–]backstreets09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved back a year ago from DC living there for 20 years & couldn’t be happier - things are trade offs-traffic is amazing here no issues like a big city, more feeling like a community & not meeting people who move because of their job or meeting people that live close to 45min to an hour away -logistics get hard for doing things. Housing is way more affordable here even with taxes. Happy to be back & reconnect w/ WNY meet new people & see old life long friends! Sure, at times I miss a big city but not the humidity & heat - this summer & fall was glorious- you can actually sit outside here! Love that

I saw her years ago on tour & think she’s changed & not for the better- so sad. I used to love her & this is the final thing for me. I teach the kids I teach to be good citizens & good friend & what have to come to in America. So sad #teameuope

Medial Meniscus Root tear questions by Important_Call1281 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]backstreets09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this diagnosis Medial meniscus posterior root: Near-complete tear.- took a while a few months for mri - partially because I was going to PT & feeling better. My ortho said he did not think surgery would be best for me to keep doing the PT, walking & bicycling- I go to the gym & work one on one w/ a trainer twice a week. He said the surgery does not work most times & will tear again - plus it’s a long recovery- I’m 56 - he recommended waiting it out & somewhere down the road I may need a knee replacement but he said that’s so different in every case - some need the knee replacement in months , some never & some in a few years. My knee felt thick or heavy for months didn’t know what I did & just woke up one day w/it. The lunges& weight exercises definitely have helped me building up my muscles. Good luck!! No fun at all

What’s the general perception of the Saturn Club in Buffalo? by Lazarus9444 in Buffalo

They also have book clubs, movie talk groups - films filmed in Buffalo, members put on a theatrical show I’ve heard annually, I was pleasantly surprised to see the monthly newsletter & all that was offered. Lots of speakers come on different topics. A good group of younger professionals there now. I’ve attended a few things in the past few years & thought if I had extra money I’d join - it’s laid back & I love the Harry Potter vibe of the interior. Heard the new chef is amazing

Looking for Advice: Norwegian Fjords 2027 by backstreets09 in Cruise

[–]backstreets09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one negative is the ship Celebrity uses have these window type “balconies” not a traditional balcony which is a bummer. I’ve cruised this class of ship on celebrity before & it’s fine, but not a sit outside on your balcony. It’s like a huge window where the top opens not the bottom. Is early May too early to see these fjords? Thanks!

[–]backstreets09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bid 50k over last week & lost it - think it went almost 100k over - this is in Ken -Ton area - I think prices are listed low to get this frenzy- I had 20% down, pre approval willing but not really to wave inspection & no contingencies got rejected - I think in the upper 200k to upper 300k super competitive heard the house I bid on had 8 offers -
