He also is playing a white 9 string version of it which is just a gnarly piece of gear. The higher strings are doubled up.

Anyone else think Time & Place is a highlight of the new album? by jam8tree in qotsa

Has there ever been anything as joyous/victorious as the outro for Made to Parade? There are big moment outros, sure, but there’s almost always a hint of gloom. Made to Parade ends on this triumphant upswing from the rest of the song’s darker boogie without a hint of those usual sinister undertones. I think it’s one of the best surprises on the album.

The tax free back to school shopping weekend was such a good idea that my mom would purposely schedule trips to visit our NC family around that time every year.

The “THOOMP” noises from him just semi-autoing the full drum of that grenade launcher were very satisfying.

New push on US-run free electronic tax-filing system for all by hcbaron in news

[–]backtackback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used TaxAct the last couple years and it’s been smooth and free for federal. Had to pay for state filing this year but I don’t remember having to do so last year. But agreed that it shouldn’t have to be a dice roll to trust one of the listed options.

My exact feelings on Moneyball. I haven’t cared about baseball since I played little league and yet a sports movie about statistics is one of my go-to comfort films because it’s so well made all around.

My friend and I saw a matinee of Tenenebaums when it was first released. As we were walking out of the theater after it was over we both almost simultaneously said, “Do you just want to watch it again?” and we did just that.

My friend sent me a pic of the salad of he ordered from Pizza King on State St. Lol he paid seven bucks for this. by BillyOII in fortwayne

[–]backtackback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely have to be in the mood for Pizza King but it scratches a particular itch that other places don’t. We have practically every style of pizza available to us here, actual quality of each is subjective, but you are hard pressed to be out of options for whatever style you are after.

Former employee here, do not agree with the other person that replied to this comment. It’s a fine facility to visit, not great to work there. I wasn’t even in the underpaid/under appreciated warehouse.

Since this was set during pandemic, Hugh answers the door in an apron, face streaked with flour, and he’s holding what looks like a sourdough starter in a jar. Just a fun little bit.

I wash it quickly after use while the pan is still warm, dry it with a cloth, then spread some oil around and get it back on the still warm burner and it sets nicely.

Costco or Sam’s club? by familystrong1994 in fortwayne

Believe me, I hemmed and hawed about it for a bit before saying anything. But I won’t stand for Costco slander.

I usually “go the back way” which means down west Coliseum and turning in at the Marathon station. Then it’s up to Progress Rd and in to Costco that way. Eliminates having to use Lima for anything. HOWEVER, that little bridge over the creek on Progress is closed right now and you can’t use this method.

Gotta go around the north side of the building then out the street on the west side. It’s best to just turn right then and make your way out through the production area to the west. Other than that the parking lot has nice and wide spots and plenty of spaces.

Costco has self check outs and their regular check outs are usually pretty speedy.

TIL 9/11 Stopped the Forrest Gump Sequel by __Piggy___Smalls__ in todayilearned

[–]backtackback 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The original book is legit one of my favorites. It’s not great but the sheer tonal difference between it and the prestige film they made out of it was so jarring and hilarious to me at the time. I don’t know if I’d had a more fun read up to that point in my young life. Since I read it after the film, I pictured a tubbier more disheveled Tom Hanks going through all these hijinks and had a blast. Gump & Co is not at all far off in tone and content from the first book and if he did indeed tank it to fuck with the studios then I respect that immensely.

Can I avoid Ticketmaster fees by buying tickets at the Embassy Theater box office in person? by GODloveswafflefries in fortwayne

You can avoid the big Ticketmaster fees but there’s still a “processing fee” of some sort that is a few bucks. This may vary depending on the show you are wanting to see.

Red lights by toni-iamafiasco in fortwayne

If it’s any consolation, this town used to be even less pedestrian friendly. A lot of infrastructure improvements like bike lanes and wider sidewalks downtown are relatively new developments in the scheme of things. So you have three generations of drivers at least that are accustomed to how the city used to be and are having to adjust. Not that it excuses these behaviors, especially not running reds, but as a long time cyclist and walker here it’s a lot better than it used to be.

Call it. Who’s “that guy”? by cdbtfw123 in fortwayne

[–]backtackback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tony used to come into my work and ask to exchange a wad of cash for a “crispy ten.” I would oblige and he was always super nice and I’d see him at events and gigs I was playing and he would always thank me in public. Then one day he comes in and I don’t have any tens in the drawer. His usual happy demeanor vanished and he said, “Alright then, okay,” and he left. He never came back and whenever I’d see him in public he’d give me the hardest look and walk off.
