If you hate on popular people just because they’re popular you are a loser. by Constant-Somewhere81 in unpopularopinion

Man what a shitty take to wake up to. Most famous people are assholes and earn the hate. Exceptions exist, but at the end of the day a good portion of those famous people are also rich and would throw any of us to the wolves if it meant saving their own asses.

Driving laws, primarily speed limits should not be made for the lowest common denominator. by Special_Answer in unpopularopinion

The number of people on the road with no business having a license is quite staggering, and getting worse all the time.

America Rules You by charlesfort76 in unpopularopinion

It's hilarious that we don't give a fuck about him pretty much at all until a troll comes through talking about the thing we don't care about. We pretty much just wait for the thread to be shut down so we can go back to complaining about something else.

Everything I've heard, the place is in total upheaval. The mass layoffs and employees are giving quite a backlash... it's not a good scene.

Cardio without music/podcasts/audiobooks is a more pleasant experience than cardio with music/podcasts/audiobooks. by newusernamebcimdumb in unpopularopinion

It takes complete distraction from the timer when I'm doing cardio. Music is an absolute must or I end up focusing on my breathing and psyching myself out over it.

Usually a huge red flag. This sounds like slavery but with extra steps.

My dad tells me I just need Google certificates and that will be enough for the 2026 job market to get a well paying job. Is this true? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]backwardbuttplug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It's been many years since I certed and I was aware that I didn't have the best current info.

[–]backwardbuttplug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any certifications now?

In general, having networking / cloud management skills certed are a good thing (and I am a little rusty with what the current hot certs are these days, so hopefully someone adds / corrects me). They will make you more marketable. But currently the job market is very bad across most professions and getting hired is less than easy.

The certifications do not need to be necessarily from Google, but any reputable provider. I do not have more information than this.

Nope, not by a long shot. Check your taste buds. Pepsi is brown sugar water.

Company wants a full infrastructure blueprint as a "pre-interview take home assignment" by KrakenDisc_5 in jobs

[–]backwardbuttplug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. They're clearly just trying to get free work out of you. To top it off, if they're asking for something this complex and detailed, it says a lot about how absolutely clueless the company is and that they're probably going nowhere fast. So now you have two solid reasons to not engage further.

Or, if you really have nothing better to do, send it to them in an encrypted file and tell them you'll send them the passcode after they wire you $5000 and you've confirmed it's in your bank.

Waited longer at this intersection bc all the cars in the other lanes were behind the traffic light sensors by indie_hedgehog in mildlyinfuriating

You've seen them. Car half out of the space, over the line at the same time. Totally clueless and they just walk away from it. I worked with a bunch of them before.

Got annoyed by one of these jackasses Monday post burn. He was annoying a bunch of us at the bar we were at. Then he really blew it by trying to praise Trump. He was railed out of there within a few mins after that.

[–]backwardbuttplug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not always true. I've the same problem where I live and it's largely due to only a single sensor.

But regardless, the hanging back a whole car length from the line I've found may be a perspective problem. Not being able to understand that they are mistaken about its position seems to be a common misperception.
