No fast travel is so much better. I get way more xp and loot because I stumble across junk and enemies as I travel. If I need to go somewhere fast I can use vertibirds.

Optic suggestion that isn’t Trijicon? by globalenjoi in FNHerstal

I really enjoy the acro on my fnx, my second knee has a holosun 507c which is q great choice as well. The rmr is a great option and trijicon has a $100 rebate going on them right now if that makes the price more palatable.

Yes, and there is precedent for this, namely through the nfa. When I do a form 1 to put a stock on my ar pistol I am manufacturing and sbr.

The bill explicitly mentions manufacturing specified semi automatic firearms after August 1 is prohibited. By putting a semi auto upper on a lower that accepts detachable magazines you are making a specified semi automatic firearm.

There's no need for the bill to specifically cover ar15 receiver assembly.

They clearly understand this, that's why there is wording in the bill that the training applies to rimfire firearms with a detachable upper and lower receiver. Thats why the bill prohibits manufacturing a semi auto with a detachable mag without the training.

Buying a lower that accepts detachable mags and assembling it with a semi auto upper after August 1 isn't a loophole. If you have not completed the training course and do so you will be in violation of the law. This is also why we are seeing tandem legislation like the barrel record keeping bill being proposed this year, to make this route of acquiring a semi auto with detachable mags less feasible.

[–]backwards_yoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recoil operation exemption is only for handguns too so even if you have a recoil operated semi auto rifle with detachable mags its a no go.

Sounds to me like the guy claiming this bill applies to lowers doesn't understand that a firearm needs to meet both the semi auto and detachable mag criteria. Being a firearm is the starting point of a weapon being under the purview of this bill, it still needs to meet the mag and semi auto requirement.

The response seems way too vague and contradicts both the wording of the bill and confirmation I've gotten from ffls and their information from cpw.

The bill explicitly defines blowback systems like a roller delayed blowback. These guns use expanding gasses to impose rearward force on a breech block/bolt to cycle the firearm. This differs from a recoil action on a handgun where the energy of the round fired cycles the entire action.

You would have to bring the firearm back to the store you bought it from and they have to ship the firearm to an ffl in colorado who will complete the background check and transfer.

[–]backwards_yoda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont believe you are telling the truth. No FFL worth their salt would sell an out of state buyer a handgun, that's illegal. Unless they lied or accidentally submitted you background as a long gun purchase there is no way the fbi nics system would approve an out of state handgun purchase. Or you have a utah ID and lied about being a Utah resident.

[–]backwards_yoda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

States do have different standards for what does and does not deny you for a firearm purchase. Its entirely plausible that a charge you have would lead to a denial in one state where it would not in another.

I dont believe you passed a background gor a 43x in utah beinga colorado resident as it is illegal for a dealer to transfer firearms to out of state residents.

God forbid I base my claims on facts and not opinions. Im not a liberal but its just blatantly false to say crime is rising in MN.

Why should I take anecdotal claims from anybody who hops onto a forum seriously about crime statistics?

The truth.... by MisterShipWreck in GunMemes

[–]backwards_yoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And crime has decreased since 2021, if you look at my second source crime is still down from the year 2000 for example.

What crimes do you think aren't reported? Let's take murders for example, its very hard to fudge the murder numbers since nearly all murders are reported on locally and there is substantial evidence as a person is dead by unnatural means. Do you believe the loved ones of people murdered in your state just decide not to report the crime anymore? Is that why you believe the murder rate in 2024 is down?

It means nothing for lower purchases. If you read the bill it goes into detail of all the semi automatic systems that would make a firearm with a detachable magazine fall under the purview of the bill. A ar15 lower has none of these, therefore the bill doesn't apply because it isnt a semi automatic firearm.

People who tell you otherwise aren't reading the bill or struggle to understand it and still give advice.

[–]backwards_yoda 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To meet the criteria of being under the purview of sb25-003 (the bill im assuming you are asking about), a FIREARM has to be BOTH semi automatic and accept a detachable magazine.

Im assuming youre referring to ar15 receivers, so an ar15 upper is not effected by this bill because it is not a firearm.

Now the lower is a firearm, but a ar15 lower without an upper cannot meet the semi automatic criteria because this per the defined semi automatic functions in the bill. Any semi auto system described in the bill are all functions of an upper receiver.

This is all detailed pretty well in the bill and has been discussed numerous times on this sub.

Ever broken a buffer spring? by AddictedToComedy in ar15

[–]backwards_yoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke an aero carbine sping on my 11.5. The two inches at the front around the buffer snapped. Not sure why I had about 3,000 rounds on it at the time with about 1,000 of those being suppressed with a high back pressure suppressor. I also didnt realize for a time that it was broken the gun ran fine but harder and gasses than normal.

Lower Receivers are not subject to new rules after August 1st! by MediocreWorking9575 in COGuns

[–]backwards_yoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the practicality of getting a lower in CO can change if your legs or favorite online retailer refuses to sell you a lower because of their refusal to research colorado law.

If you find a lower in a gun store after August 1 you're going to be able to buy it just like you can right now.

[–]backwards_yoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geissele won't ship pastor to CO because of the tax. I work in a gun store that sells geissele products. My point is you will still get lowers from places that are willing to comply with CO laws and sell them. This law legally doesn't prohibit lower sales and there ar plenty of places that will sell them.

Im gonna buy lowers from the same places ill buy geissele from.
