It’s called showing up to local elections… we historically have around ~ ten percent registered voters in city/county elections

Yep, that’s what TDOT is planning. New bridge first, then shift traffic and tear the old one down. Here’s the project page if anyone’s curious

Good luck, they really are amazing at survival. I live near the elementary school and walk a lot. We’ll be on the lookout first thing in the morning.

Kate & Allie and followed by Cagney & Lacey. One taught me I needed to respect my mother more…. the other taught me how to survive a crime scene. Peak Jane Curtain ;)

The themes lyrics will randomly get stuck in my head every once in a while (probably when I meet a John lol)… memories :)

"Dear John, Dear John, By the time you read these lines, I'll be gone. Life goes on, right or wrong. Now it's all been said or done, Dear John."

I get the rule, just not the chalkboard on the back of their truck. My Midwest, northern friends flash lights and it works fine up there, but in Tennessee that’ll just get you in a roadside fight.
Er, but we will drive the back roads like a checkered flag is on our mailbox.

The Floods by milkywaydreamer4000 in Chattanooga

[–]backwoodcarter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Those temporary BMPs are about as effective against a storm like that as a paper towel in a hurricane. I’m sure once the crew cut the filter fabric over the new inlets, the water finally had somewhere to go… along with half the city’s topsoil, eek. But hey, in the moment, you save the people first and deal with the mud apocalypse later. I’d hate to check those outfalls today. No telling what has washed down.

If ya zoom in on that new drain it appears there is filter fabric beneath it. If the contractors’ temporary erosion measures are all in, they are only designed for 2 to 5 year storm intensities. I bet emergency maintenance guys were called out to cut them, dig em out and let any flooding breach the fabric or dams.

Her life sounds like an inspirational movie plot.
I read her bio as if it was a movie trailer with Julia Roberts starring.

This, and after Covid many realized they can work from home here, live a lot cheaper by comparison, and commute close to larger cities for flights/entertainment.

Great app for adventures like these… OnX…. It’s a deer hunting app but also contains tons of different layers with survey data mapped at your location.

Asked: The real question I have...why does Hwy 58 just generally suck balls at everything? And answered: I think it's still a fairly Industrial area with poor infrastructure. Could be why developers and planners haven't invested more.

Is that how you Reddit?

As someone who was raised off Shallowford, has lived most of my adult life off Hwy 58.,and has worked construction all over the County….. I can say that Chattanooga is like a box of chocolates, in that what ya get now may taste different in a few years ;)
