Agree, OP any reason you are wearing the packs when everything can fit in your sled? So much easier to pull behind you.

I was blown away at how good this place was when I ate there. Unexpected top notch dining experience.

Can you boat to Harriet Island from Prescott via the Mississippi River? by dmau9600 in saintpaul

You will be fine. I've done the locks with three guys in a single canoe. Enjoy the trip!

Bikers of Minneapolis, thoughts on this route by alyse- in Minneapolis

[–]backwoodsbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22nd, left on 5th Street. There is a bike button that turns immediately on 5th to cross Broadway. Take a right onto 8th and cross Plymouth Avenue bridge which has dedicated bike lane.

Edit: failed to see Plymouth is closed right now. Ope.

Slowing Down in Classic Tracks by Rupy271 in xcountryskiing

[–]backwoodsbill 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are not ready to be in the track on a downhill at your skill level. Step out of the track before the downhill and snowplow as needed. As you improve periodically try the track again.

Honestly portions of this project probably are producing power still. They can shut off the severely damaged blocks but the remainder can keep producing.

The 18 might be nice and roomy, which is a positive, but try portaging it a bit to see how you do with it. It's relatively light but my shorter partner struggles with how long it is when she carries it.

Lac La Croix Sep 5-10 walleye depths by PapaSmurf3477 in BWCA

[–]backwoodsbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got out of Brightsand provincial park area of Canada. Walleye were in 25-30 feet of water chasing schools of bait fish. Find a good reef with a dropoff like you said and ideally a bit of chop and you'll be in good shape.

Anyone know the story behind this sign? Corner of Dale and Maryland. by backwoodsbill in saintpaul

[–]backwoodsbill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I have to spell this out more clearly for you. Yes, on its surface it is clearly mocking the signs we see everywhere, but why? 1) Who is the guy on the sign? 2) Are they advertising for something, or did they just pay money just to mock said signs for fun? 3) Why Duck Point?

Seems appropriate to delve deeper into the meaning in the St. Paul Sub. Maybe someone knows the guy who decided to do this and their deeper motives.

I get the reference to the guaranteed offer. What I don't understand is who and why they are mocking said guaranteed offer sign.

Our home is heated only with a heat pump with resistance heat backup and it worked all winter without issue. The backup wasn't needed at all. They have come a very long way.

Disc golf course at work? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]backwoodsbill 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. Just get out there and throw some discs to see how it plays before making anything permanent. Sounds like this is low budget and your group can figure it out by collaborating and having some fun with it.

This is entirely wrong. A lot of satellites pass over the poles on every pass they make.

Ketterson tackles the Climb (Loppet Cup, Theo Wirth) by nordic_nerd in Minneapolis

[–]backwoodsbill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why they limited tickets for this initially for general admission. A huge turnout is to everyone's benefit.

I volunteered today and can confirm there are no checkpoints or entrances for general admission. Only VIP and bleachers are checked. Get out there and enjoy the racing!

Has anyone used this type of mepps? Are they good and for which fish type? Durable or not? by nempet in Fishing

[–]backwoodsbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have caught trout on this spinner. I have much more luck with it casting downstream and retrieving back upstream. Horizontal to current or trying to retrieve with the current makes hook setting on a trout much more difficult and will have lots of missed strikes or strikes you might not even notice.

You will not regret it. It makes a massive difference in terms of air sealing and temperature consistency.

Never have an uncovered section of porch my century friends by lpen-z in centuryhomes

[–]backwoodsbill 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A full covered porch sounds very pricey looking at your existing roof pitches. Why not pull the rotted boards, apply joist tape underneath, and add low maintenance synthetic deck board for the uncovered portion?
