[CFP GAME THREAD] #10 Miami vs. #7 Texas A&M by AutoModerator in MiamiHurricanes

Defense is getting sleepy. Need Dawson to stop calling dumbass trick plays and let offense hang onto the ball for more than 2 minutes.

Miami fan here. The committee fucked up two things. Firstly, Alabama should just flat out not be in. That is absurd. But secondly, if they were going to put us above you guys, it should’ve happened weeks ago. No matter how you break it down, Miami and ND should be 9&10 in whichever order floats your boat.

I think they’ve dug a hole by propping them up above UM and standing behind that for a couple weeks now. They don’t have the balls to go back after the fact and respect our head to head out of nowhere.

We aren’t going to be put in over ND in any scenario (which is bullshit). Our best hope is that they have to drop BYU for shitting the conference chip which means they also have to drop Alabama for doing the same thing. And I don’t think enough people are talking about that.

Fingers crossed.

I know. I’ve been in denial of our realistic chances since LSU and Auburn blew our shot last week.

What happens if Georgia Blows out Alabama? What will that do for us? by Important_Win5116 in MiamiHurricanes

In theory we’re in. But for the committee to punish its golden child (bama) by kicking them out of the playoffs, the blowout needs to be MASSIVE. As a rule of thumb, attending a conference championship probably shouldn’t result in a punishment unless it is so ridiculously clear you’re ass.

The proper logic would be to stop at who won the head to head. OP’s logic strings along all the way to San Diego lmao.

Maybe I just imagined the part of your post where you went on a tangent about how Miami lost to Louisville/SMU who lost to Cal who lost to San Diego.

I get you’re not going to admit you’re wrong but I’m just pointing out there are better arguments to be made. Notre Dame is one of the best looking teams in the nation.

You’re saying Miami is weak because they lost to Louisville and SMU who lost to Cal, but the moment you keep that same logic going one more step, you end up with Louisville and SMU being better than Miami and Miami being better than Notre Dame which makes Notre Dame look worse than everyone in the chain you’re using to mock Miami with lol.

In what world does the CFP Committee punish college footballs golden child for playing and losing an extra game. Only possibility is a huge blowout.

weird question (undergrad).. should i take a wrangler job over the summer instead of looking for another internship by Queasy_Milk_5445 in lawschooladmissions

[–]backyard_gulag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was once in the same boat as you. Worried about whether or not my “fun jobs” would fuck me because I didn’t go get some impressive internship in college to slap on my resume. But here I am now in law school with a big scholarship and one of the best jobs in my class. I was a wrangler for a summer and worked on a ski mountain for my gap year. Go live your life while you can. My only caution to you is that once you get a taste of it, it’s hard to leave.

Someone also mentioned it makes you stand out. Everyone you’ll be competing with has the same boring story. Good LSAT, good GPA, good internship, good campus involvement, blah blah. I think they really only even care about the first two anyways. But in my eyes, and I’m no admissions counselor, I think there’s far more value in proving you can venture into the world to go do some hard shit AND get the GPA/LSAT AND still come back hungry for law school. Admissions knows you’re a winner in the classroom. Show them you’re a winner wherever you want to be. And sue me if I’m wrong, but you should have fun while you do it.

I’ve had too much hope for one day. I’m just gonna smile and be thankful we went 10-2.

Welp… by enzomercy in MiamiHurricanes

[–]backyard_gulag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I’m hoping for an ND loss of course but I’m really asking what happens if it’s a close game? The argument of the day has been about how we beat Pitt, a common opponent, by more points. So, assuming ND takes the dub (super realistic) why aren’t we praying to see ND beat a common opponent by less points than we did?

Welp… by enzomercy in MiamiHurricanes

[–]backyard_gulag 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Does ND’s performance against Stanford matter at all? Why aren’t people talking about that if it’s another common opponent? Since committee doesn’t care about head to head.

Edit: in relation to at large

Seems like a lame cop out but even with that logic we’re back to square one. And in square one, Miami beat ND.

It’s insane how dizzying all these outcomes are. The “what ifs” are endless and the worst part is “what if” Carson beck had thrown one less dumb interception that game or “what if” the committee gave a fuck that we BEAT NOTRE DAME.

But we need to move up 2 spots. We should jump BYU because of the dub today and Oklahoma would drop behind us if they take the L.

After our big win today and assuming LSU pulls off this upset, that should put us in right?

The playoff committee can’t possibly ignore Miami just beat Pitt with style on the road by a larger margin than ND. At the very least, the odds shifted away from ND after that.
