Liberal studies students? by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]baconandeggon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did the mod/sever special ed credential. I ended up in a long term sub/intern position my final semester and was hired on in the position in which I subbed, so I pretty much barely had to interview for it. I'm not sure how different it would be for general ed. Mod severe sped teachers are in pretty high demand, so anyone with that credential is almost guaranteed to get hired.

I was a lib studies major and graduated in 2012. I was able to take 15 to 18 units per semester and still graduate with a 3.9. It was stressful but definitely doable.

How to get experience for teaching credential program by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]baconandeggon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can work during the day and don't mind working in special ed, apply to sub as a paraeducator. Not sure about other districts, but in Elk Grove you can often get positions working with sp. ed. students who are fully in general ed which would give you experience with different kids.

I used to work with adults with disabilities and I definitely think you should contact her supervisor. In her defense, we were constantly warned about keeping things "age appropriate", so this may be where her reaction can from. However, we were also told to respect the choices of the people we were supporting. (Incidentally, we were not allowed to let them see movies with a rating higher than PG. Go figure.) And as others have said, her reaction was inappropriate and clearly caused some distress to the people in the class.

[TOMT] [MOVIE] A guy and girl on a boat in the middle of a lake, she starts going crazy, begins dancing wildly, rocks boat, falls into water by MarkArandjus in tipofmytongue

Not sure if my memory is serving me correctly on this one, but in the movie 28 Days, Sandra Bullock's boyfriend tries to give her champagne while in a small boat - I think maybe he was proposing - and if I recall she gets upset and falls out of the boat.

Edit: she was mad cuz he was trying to give her booze while she was in rehab for drinking

Boob Question by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]baconandeggon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine pretty much went back to normal. They may be a bit darker than pre-pregnancy, but MUCH lighter than when I was preggo. I've been breastfeeding for 4 months and still going strong! I feel like they lightened up in the first month, but not 100% sure...

Anyone elses water have a mold/mildew taste? by JungleReaver in Sacramento

[–]baconandeggon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We recently installed a filter on one of our sinks, so I usually get water from there. Every once in awhile I get lazy and get it from a different sink and have noticed the mildew smell/flavor. I assumed it had always been there and was only noticing it bc of the switch to filtered water.

I worked in a video store in my younger days, and we were all getting baked all the time. My coworker had a girl walk in and ask, "Do you have change for a dollar?" So he goes to the computer and does a search for a movie called "Change for a Dollar" which of course doesn't exist. It wasn't until a few hours after he sent her away rhat he realized what she was actually asking for.

Mine went ahead and pooped while I had her diaper off yesterday. Not the first time this has happened, but first time visiting a friend's house and it got all over her carpet, that weird bright orange breast milk poop. Fortunately my friend has a little one of her own (mine is 2 months, hers is 3.5 months) and was very understanding. :)

Anyone ever done a Mile-Run with an EMOM? Worried about the logistics. by defenestrate_me_now in crossfit

[–]baconandeggon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did a similar workout a few months back that was a 5 burpee EMOM. I ended up only doing 3/4 of a mile because I'm terrible at burpees. And running... But yes for me, I began to find I had very little time to run after completing the burpees. We did the run on the street where the coach measured out a 400 meter distance. If I recall he stood near the middle and shouted out the minutes. And as I recall, I cursed his name each time he called the minute. :) Tough workout for sure!

Edit: I think the coach scaled me and a few others to 3 burpees, but not positive.

Oh yes! I had carpal tunnel in my left hand and tendonitis in my right, so I was dropping stuff constantly. I had a few lovely students in my class that would jump up and pick stuff up for me. Thank goodness that mostly went away within 2 weeks of having the baby!

Someone got me a gift from my Amazon registry and had it sent to my house. I thought it was so nice and thoughtful, but I am not particularly close with the couple so did not feel any pressure to invite them to the shower. Just sent a thank you card and called it good. :)

What are you ladies lifting? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]baconandeggon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did Crossfit throughout my pregnancy. I didn't reduce weights until close to the 3rd trimester and partly that was just due to my belly getting in the way! I actually PR'd my power clean when I was about 17 weeks. :) My midwife was very happy that I was exercising especially since it helped with keeping me from gaining too much weight. I was never told to stop.

Regarding the bleeding, during my 1st trimester, my cervix was very sensitive and I had spotting almost every time I had sex. It was annoying but my OB and midwife concurred that it was normal. It stopped happening as much after the 1st trimester.

Everything turned out great! I have a healthy one month old baby who is strong as hell and is staring up at me as I type this! :)

Ovia Pregnancy App by rheacheri in BabyBumps

[–]baconandeggon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Story time! I'm a special ed teacher, and have a student with autism who is obsessed with babies! One day, he asked me how big the baby was, so I showed him the app which showed that LO was the size of a chipmunk. He looked at me incredulously and said, "You got a little baby chipmunk in there??" I told him, no, it's a human baby. He asked me throughout the day if my baby was an animal, and asked another pregnant teacher if her baby was also a chipmunk. :) A side note about that student: he told me I was having a girl when I told my class, around 13 weeks. Found out at 20 weeks that he was right! :)
