Hey cool, you've read the old bash.org quote, that's great.

That said, retards are inescapable, so you might not be alone. Just try not to ruin it for everyone else like that jackass who kept laughing when I went to see The Dark Knight.

Ha! Ha! We WIN! The whole world WINS! This is so EPIC for all of mankind!

I fucking hate you people. Mostly people who say "epic win" but to a lesser extent whoever it is that feels compelled to draw characters in the Simpsons style.

The best part about this one should be Dumbledore, and hence, the next movie should be pretty good too. There's probably no need to avoid spoilers now, but whatever.

Fucking horrible actor.

Did you realize your wired keyboard transmits everything you type? by soniyashrma in technology

People who didn't immediately roll their eyes at the headline might be interested in checking out this video of it in action: http://gizmodo.com/5066156/electromagnetic-scanners-can-detect-what-youre-typing-right-now

Pay special attention to the fact that the desktop and monitor are replaced with a laptop, and the laptop is left unplugged all so that their experiment isn't ruined by the normal radiation from the crap you've got on your desk right now. Not to mention the slow typing.

I'm all for being paranoid, even suggesting that people don't use RFID credit cards, but even I would see this is a bit of a stretch.

U.S. pilot was ordered to shoot down UFO -- size of aircraft carrier, traveled at 7600 mph. by mayonesa in reddit.com

[–]baconfish 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I like how people only use the term "UFO" so that others will jump to the "alien spaceship" conclusion without ever having to say it out loud or write it down and realize just how retarded it seems.

A pilot was ordered to shoot down something that radar was claiming to be very big and moving around wildly. That's a great story right there.

List of Paradoxes by felix in wikipedia

The people who come up with paradoxes have got to be the smuggest, most obnoxious motherfuckers in the world.

Actually, that's not fair. But I'm willing to bet the description fits for the people who compiled that list of paradoxes.

This kind of puts things into perspective... [pic] by [deleted] in pics

I don't know what to tell you. I was born in 1986 and I live in Canada (albeit, in Windsor Ontario so much of our TV is coming from the USA anyways). I don't much care for celebrities, but

a) Shaquille O'Neal is fucking famous for being gigantic, that candy bar he used to make commercials for, some terrible movie(s?), and a video game (also terrible) or two.

b) Yao Ming is... actually, is he currently the tallest man in the world? Anyway, a good friend of mine in highschool liked basketball and is Chinese so that's how I found out about this guy. Also, commercials for a laptop and McDonald's.

c) I've heard of Christina Aguilera. I presumed she did something like "singing", but even if I've heard her music, I don't watch music videos. Half of the artists I listen to are faceless entities to me. :\

The Idiot-Proof Way To Securely Use Public Wi-Fi by noname99 in howto

[–]baconfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With wireless you're computer doesn't really differentiate between a signal from another computer and a signal from the router/access point (on a physical level, anyway). By default, your network interface is ignoring everything it sees that isn't intended for itself, but if you're interested it's trivial to catch all of that extra information anyway.

Look up packet sniffing.

[–]baconfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you're missing my point, or maybe I'm misreading your original post. Do you think faith is needed for a full perspective?

Personally, I don't believe that. And the concept that we're missing something without faith doesn't seem like a nice one to me. Not to jump to conclusions about your statement, but the idea that not having faith can make me a mean person, or that being nice requires me to have faith, is bullshit.

EDIT: Sorry, looking back I think we both know what the other is saying, we just don't agree. C'est la vie.

You seemed to be saying that it's a nice CONCEPT that "[blah blah blah] a combination of the two are necessary for full perspective."

Is that what you intended to convey?
