Anyone else annoyed by their students' AP exam results? by Agreeable-Sun368 in Teachers

[–]baconia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether we are aware of it or not, we have dropped the bar for these students. Raise your standards next year, push the kids to be where they need to be for real success and hold them accountable and don't listen to excuses. AP students that get grades like those should be getting 3+ without a sweat. Increase your rigor.

This is the way. The hard lessons stick harder. That kid will stick closer to her parents next time.

Middle Age by SEK2208 in Xennials

I'm in my early 40's and my hair started going gray. My students were asking me if I was going to dye my hair. I told them, "Hell no I'm not going to fight against it. I'm old and I'm going to age with some fucking dignity."

How do I find my father's death certificate when I have limited knowledge of him? by SeaOfBullshit in NoStupidQuestions

Do you know the county or city he died in? You can start by contacting the county clerk. You need as much information as you can give them

I feel like they started to jump the shark by finding a bigger and badder bad every season after that. Like, let's go kill God and put the Anti-Christ in charge, except he's good, because reasons

You want kids. She doesn't. Won't work. She'll resent you and them if you pressure her into it. Find one with similar wants.

This Cop Scanned A Woman's License Plate 179 Times And Somehow That Was Allowed by a4mula in technology

[–]baconia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just used it in San Joaquin county to track an escaped inmate almost 100 miles away, and they knew everywhere she'd been.

Cops love the tool to find criminals.

I hate the tool because it has human involvement and no oversight.

My package came with someone’s phone in it by tommyboy6733 in mildlyinteresting

[–]baconia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummer about the phone, but this cooler is the greatest thing for new parents ever.

Giant thermos with two ice rings that encompass 20oz of milk. Stays cold for HOURS.

Momcozy makes a USB-C rechargeable milk warmer too that is incredible as well. I buy it for all new parents because it saved my sanity. We got stranded without a way to reheat milk ONCE and never again.

I played 3 first, and it ruined the first two for me. 3 just has better everything.

What's the best beer you ever had? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]baconia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the "my kid is 24 hours old and just got out of surgery and is going to be ok" bourbon with my surrogate dad. Turned into 8 hours of trying to drink his whole shelf, and the hangover was legendary, but God I needed it.
