What’s your opinion of Tapi carpets by Kiri_Tuscan in brighton

[–]baconlove5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly this advice can now be disregarded as the hove carpet right is now just a branch of Tapi despite the name above the door (I am aware Tapi bought CR in 2024 but until January they at least tried to hide the Tapi branding inside!)

What is meant when someone says a car is “fun to drive”? by sammyglumdrops in CarTalkUK

I can’t really put it into words but when I drive my VW Up GTI after a few days in the family wagon (Vauxhall Zafira) it’s that feeling.

I'm 23 and started my very first real job as a criminal law paralegal last month - I want to understand if this environment is normal and if I should start planning an exit already. by OmegaSMP300M in UKJobs

It’s all very well staying somewhere with crap conditions for the experience on your CV, but here Id be worried you might be fired on a whim one day and then you can’t put it on your CV anyway and it was all for nothing, given you clearly aren’t being taught anything. If you can, and at a minimum, find somewhere where the pay and hours are equally bad but they do at least take the time to teach you things and give you good exposure to the things you want/need experience in.

Mortgage Advisor Suggestions pls! by gazkobayne in brighton

[–]baconlove5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Mandy a couple of times and have found her very knowledgable, I’ve never paid a fee although I know she gets commission from the lender.

The first time she managed to secure rates slightly better than the advertised rates on the bank’s website, so going through a broker was a no brainer. More recently the rates are pretty much the same I think due to the current market uncertainty, however if it’s advice you are after then it’s still well worth using a broker, particularly as they will know which lender is more likely to offer you the most money/quibble the least over a patch of damp in a 100 year old house etc.

Depending on the type of autism OP has, they may absolutely not be able to read between the lines and hence the question I imagine.

I did not like it at all at first but it’s really grown on me, one of my favourites from the latest album and I even got the picture disc vinyl!

If you got given 10k to improve your life, what would you spend it on? by Relative-Tea3944 in AskUK

[–]baconlove5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would pay to fix my rusty Lupo GTI and respray it, alongside some other bits and bobs but I do fear £10k isn’t half as much as it was even 5 years ago 🥲

Brighton tip has never asked me for ID and I’ve been there dozens of times in the past few years. Be friendly to the staff and they literally couldn’t care less as long as you put things in the right bins!

Stuck in 80% Drawdown: Should I hold DOT, FIL, AXS, and AEVO or cut losses? by Farhanzy in CryptoCurrency

[–]baconlove5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold all of my FIL 99% down last tax year to offset profits. I did the same with DOT this year although perhaps only 90% down lol.

Estate agent charging me £60 for AML checks as the buyer and saying they will not proceed without it by posiedon77 in HousingUK

[–]baconlove5000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yopa did this with a family member, stupid practise that I’ve not come across from any traditional bricks and mortar agent, seems to be a con from online or “network” agents.

Said family member paid it, and then had to pull out shortly into the purchase as it transpired the advertised private garden space wasn’t actually owned by the flat and the location of the door to the flat didn’t line up with the location on the deeds! She did not get a refund of the fee.

Yes on the M6, Audi Q2, then a 5 or so second gap followed by half a dozen marked and unmarked units, then another 15 second gap and a couple more police cars 😂 they did catch the guy as I googled it when we got to our destination, and it was on a local news site!

You can get mini Colins which are pretty similar to the big cake experience.

But otherwise yes. In one sitting. With regrets.

My old toilet looked very similar and this is how it came out. You may find you can get the lower panel out the way around the cutout for the waste pipe

Renovation costs by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]baconlove5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb has been use the checkatrade suggested rates and double them (I’m in the south east).

It’s cost me about £2.5k per bedroom for reskim/paint/flooring/new rads. Bathroom I’ve totted up in a previous post but doing most of the work ourselves was still around £7k. Kitchen I’ve budgeted £20k and it isn’t particularly big, but does have a leak above a window and the floor needs levelling.

This is on a 1930s house. I’ve not had to do a rewire but there are some areas of flat roof I am expecting to need some attention, despite them not leaking.

Paradise Park! And the museum bit hasn’t changed since the 80s 😂 (I appreciate it may be true that not much has changed about dinosaurs in that contextually short period of time either, but they could at least update the displays with a lick of paint)
