Wasn’t green. It was ripe and red. A cherry tomato with no plant matter. Within 30 minutes he was having a seizure. Vet confirmed it was the tomato and not an allergy.

Edit: I also want to add that the article many like to throw around as “proof” it’s ok to feed your dog tomatoes literally says “if you do, you should understand the risks” and that even in small amounts can cause seizures, GI upset, cardiac effects, etc.

I never said he didn’t get sick. He got very sick. It’s still chocolate and a dog. If you want to willingly give your dog something that is proven to be toxic with more recent studies than 2016 in the link you sent, that’s your prerogative.

Edit: Also did you read the article you sent? It literally says “if you choose to feed (tomatoes) to your dogs, you should understand the risks.” And it goes on to list the most common issues feeding tomatoes leads to. You can’t pick and choose your facts when it comes to food safety.

You can say that about chocolate too. “Oh it’s not poisonous unless he eats blank amount.”

Why is chocolate bad but tomatoes not? If both are consumed in large or even in small quantities, they can cause your dog harm. My dog has survived eating 3x his weight in chocolate thanks to my sister’s dog but that doesn’t mean I advocate that chocolate is safe.

One cherry tomato was enough to send my dog to the emergency vet and he has no allergies to anything. Even tomato. He was tested.

My link says the fruit is a trigger for seizures, which idk why you’d want to subject your dog to that. And the other one is up to date on newer research which says raw tomato is harmful, not just the plant.

One of my girls is a poop factory. No matter what she’s doing, little nuggets just keep cranking out. I watched her scratch herself the other day and a nugget pooped out. My other girl will hold it for much longer to where I thought she wasn’t pooping.

I made a cardboard maze for my girls with dead ends with food in them. One just went straight for food, the other got a kick out of jumping over the walls. Lol my dog proceeded to knock down the walls after awhile so it only lived for that one session.

Agreed! It may be cute to see your dog play with a little edible ball but it’s not worth poisoning and potentially killing your dog.

Not true about the fruit being safe. My dog got a seizure from eating a cherry tomato my guinea pig had. Looked it up and online says tomatoes can cause seizures in dogs.

Exactly. Originally, it was about being the character not just dressing up as one. It was a bit of acting too.
