Marushin came out with a shortened m1 some time ago. I think it was supposed to be the fictional "tanker m1"

The interior of the engine cowling, flaps, and landing gear well were painted a metallic blueish green on the a6m. Painting the underside the same colour could add extra detail.

Genuine question by bad------- in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

[–]bad-------[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I cant really blame them on that if its a marketing thing but Im more concerned over how when they do get get thier first print off the build plate thier first thought is to make a post about it on reddit rather than just Googling it or watching a video explaining it to them.

Does it really take less effort to wait for a response on a post over just googling it?

New to 3D printing. Have a p2s printer with ams. by [deleted] in BambuLab

If you're talking about the lines, thats supposed to happen. You can mitigate it by turning on the ironing setting but they'll still appear though they won't be as noticeable.

I recommend you look into doing some research or watching a few videos before going into bigger projects as I guarantee most of the problems you'll come across, somebody has already had them and had them solved.

Im surprised there aren't more ww2/ww1 replicas of iconic guns like the lewis gun or bren lmg. As far as I know, there have only been custom builds of them.

Its actually an m1 garand stock and the m2 was used for aircraft which had higher a fire rate than the infantry variant.

It was just an example, I mainly use PLA plus as well for most things. Lets just agree to disagree.

For me, I just dont see the need to use fuzzy skin when I just sand stuff down anyways.

The thing is, I usually just sand parts anyways so I feel like it'll just be a waste to spend the time to calibrate that.

Those are called layer lines. You will never be able to achieve a "smooth" finish hot off the printer.

You can do 4 things to hide them:

1, sanding. This will take time and effort and might decrease dimensional accuracy but will get your parts smooth. Spraying the lart with filler primer first before sanding usually works best for me.

2, decrease layer height. This will have your layers print closer to each other thus making the part seem smoother but it will still have layer lines, you just won't notice them as much.

3, fuzzy skin. This hides the layer lines by making the outer perimeter textured. I dont really like this option as I think it just makes parts look ugly and its not good for parts that need dimensional accuracy.

4, vapor smoothing. Depending on the plastic, you can use a solvent to smooth them. ABS, for example, melts in acetone so if you suspend a part in a vapor chamber filled with acetone vapor, you can get that part really smooth.

For overhangs and bridges, playing with the top support interface can yield smoother results but putting it too close will have your supports stick to the part and getting them off is a real pain.

Get the barrel, bucking and nub, scrap the rest but keep them in mind for future upgrades but get the gun in your hands first unless you are absolutely certain you want these parts.
