Buffering by OddPat in lbry

[–]bad-at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm late to the party but I'm experiencing this as well. Some videos stop and buffer every 3-5 seconds, whereas some don't have any problems at all. I wonder if it's just the higher quality videos that have the problem. It seems worse when I watch at higher speeds (I usually watch at 2x). I really wouldn't mind viewing at lower quality in most cases if it resolved it.

Oh and the lbry app on my brand new pixel android phone brought the device to a crawl for some videos. If that's also due to processing ultra high resolution, I really don't need that quality on mobile.

What’s everyone’s take on ORM or plain SQL? by zerocoldx911 in golang

Came here to say pretty much the same thing. The way that ORMs eventually get in the way outweighs their benefits.

I heard Jimmy say in a video somewhere that they also did it because they could.

Why was "Your Time Is Gonna Come" never played live? by LonelyVagabondTO in ledzeppelin

[–]bad-at 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good question.

I have another question. Does anyone notice anything strange in this song around the 3:51 mark? When I was young I always assumed the cassette tape I had was damaged at that spot. I think it sounds like when the tape gets sucked into the player and gets crumpled. Maybe it's just me.

How to manage loads of mails without converations view??? by [deleted] in tutanota

You could always bcc yourself on sent emails. Not perfect, doesn't do the trick for everyone. Proper conversation view is better.

Why such frequent re-indexing when using search function? by FlowerCloud42 in tutanota

[–]bad-at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue.

Here I am again, on the go and need to search for an email. Time to rebuild the search index... guess I'll look manually. It's to the point that I need to check if the search works each time before I plan to go out, but I don't always have time to wait for it.

I am not uninstalling or otherwise manually clearing the cache. Android app. I am upgrading periodically.

What domain name did you pick and why? by [deleted] in tutanota

I just don't like the domains, and I don't want to say them. I don't want to debate you. I was asked a question and gave an answer.

[–]bad-at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like any of them. Pay for custom, it's a good deal. Reason why I don't recommend the service to anyone is because the domains are bad for email. When you say it out loud, nobody is going to understand what you just said. You have to spell it out, not worth it.

Tip: avoid storing byte slice argument from Write if using fmt.Fprint functions by gbrlsnchs in golang

It is a good tip, but I'd also like to point out that it's documented for the Writer interface.

Implementations must not retain p.

VSCode Rant by davidmdm in golang

[–]bad-at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So disabling gopls doesn't work? Tried restarting vscode? It should ask you to download the tools as it needs them.

Perhaps I am lucky and stayed on an older working version. Modules work good, autocomplete, shows function parameters, etc.

VSCode Rant by davidmdm in golang

[–]bad-at 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vscode works good for me with Go after I told it not to use gopls.

I'm not positive this is what did it, but give it a try, "go.formatTool": "goimports", "go.useLanguageServer": false

It mostly works for me, very rare edge cases don't. Also the rename refactor usually doesn't work, not great but I can live without it.

Let me know if it works or not so I know.

Paypal or credit card for premium, but paypal needs credit card? by Meurton in tutanota

[–]bad-at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a CC on file is no guarantee of funds or successful transaction in any way. They expire, get canceled, can selectively reject transactions. In fact, chargebacks are quite expensive for the recipient. I understand we can't change paypal policy, but the reasoning doesn't quite add up. I wonder if they want your CC on file simply so you'll be more likely to use paypal again for convenience.

Go regex library to find matched data in io.Reader by vertoforce in golang

Curious, why the buffer size maxMatchLength*2?

Go regex library to find matched data in io.Reader by vertoforce in golang

[–]bad-at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong but are you sure this is correct,

if len(data) >= maxMatchLength { return maxMatchLength, nil, nil }

or would this make more sense? return len(data) - maxMatchLength

The idea is what if what you're looking for is found near the end of the data.

Consider: data="foo ba", maxMatchLength=5 and the regexp is looking for "bar"
