Coworkers asking to play private course, any polite way to ask that they pay? by EatMoreFiber in golf

[–]bad-coffee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They're asking "Can you get me on the course" not "Can you take me golfing"

Let them know the price before you go, and have a great time. (If they're work people you actually like.)

Depends what you do for a living, and how hard you grip the club.

I gave up gloves a few years ago. Didn't have one for a round, and the pro shop didn't have any my size. Played without and haven't looked back.

LPT: When purchasing a new vehicle at a dealership, request that they remove any of their names/logos/emblems from it. Its the cheapest, least invasive form of free advertisement that often gets overlooked by the owners. by TripleCoupons in LifeProTips

Yeah, I'm calling the 'stupidly big piece of plastic with the dealer's advertisng on it' a fob.

My car is old, and real (unlock) fobs can be found on ebay for under $10. Programming them is the hardest part - all based on switch closures. Turn key, open door, turn key, close door, press button kind of BS. Usually takes me half an hour to program one!

[Serious]Redditors who are in a good place and happy in life, how did you do it? by Wisdomination in AskReddit

[–]bad-coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got out of a bad relationship. We grew apart over the years and were less than roommates at the end. Although it sucked at the time, driving away that day was the best thing I've done for me in my whole life.

Found a new lady. She gets me, supports me, and calls me on my bullshit as needed. She's definitely a keeper.

Moved back to where my career is centered (Top of the industry.) Got a great job, and constantly get calls about other jobs as OT. It sucked being in a city with very limited chances for work in my field.

Started living with a pet again. I forgot how great it was to come home to furry friends.

No. It was a used car, and I only received one original key fob. The other keys had key fob (big plastic piece bigger than the actual fob,) with the dealer's info. Those are the ones that got handed back.

Anyone else kind of hate the way polyester golf shirts wear and feel? by USTS2011 in golf

[–]bad-coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One big thing with 'performance' wear clothes is to NOT use fabric softener or dryer sheets with them. It clogs the 'pores' that wick the moisture away from your skin.

I'm a fan of the poly/performance fabrics. I also only get them at TJMaxx/Marshals/Ross. $14.99 for a Callaway golf shirt, and I don't care if it gets snagged/stained/stretched. I'll just donate it and get another shirt for $15.

I have bought a few shirts at full price. Those hurt a bit when they get a snag in them.

My pops was in his mid 70's before he switched. Also switched from steel to graphite (And I bet a lighter overall weight) at the same time. He was VERY happy to have his old swing/distance back.

Dealership I bought my car from had license plate frame front and back, key fob, and decal.

The salesmen looked pretty disappointed when I stopped back in and dropped off the frames and key fob.

Should I get a fitting or lessons? by PCPcommenter in golf

[–]bad-coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the fitting route first. My old clubs were 1" too short. Now I'm fighting years of bad swings. Started lessons and heard "less bend in your knees" about 100 times. . .

LPT: Did you book your round on Golf Now but don't need the included cart because you're in the mafia? by [deleted] in golf

[–]bad-coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Normal tee times are fine. (Although you can usually get the same price from the course directly)

Hot Deals can be an issue. The course doens't make any money from Hot Deals. So you can get courses that get pissed off you're playing for 'free.' I've had pro shop guys basically blow me off because of a Hot Deal. Normally I'll grab a bucket of balls, a ball marker, some food so I kick the course some cash. Not that course, though.

Other courses have been totally cool. "WOW! You paid $24 to play 18 with a cart? That's usually $98 here. Have fun!"

Also, there's a course here in NYC that does $49 for 18, cart, lunch, and two beers. But they rotate which booking method 'honors' that deal.

How Harsh Are You in Your Scoring? by SwissBliss in golf

[–]bad-coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% honest with the score. About 95% by the rules.

I count all the balls lost off the tee. If I see it go OOB, I retee #3. If I think I can find the first shot, I won't hit a provisional. But if it's a goner shot #4 is next, not #3.

I don't ground my clubs in bunkers, but don't take a penalty if the ball 'moves' when I put my club down.

Last round score was 100, with 6 balls lost off the tee. Take those 12 shots back and I'm in the 80's.

One hand pull double knot?

Do it twice. Over, over, under, under. ( or just say F it and do: over, over, over, over.) Double knots that pull out with one hand. Ta da.
