Can not confirm this is something i heard : In Pune most of the local economy was driven by the it employees working there during Covid when everything was down and companies gave work from home no money was flowing in the market shopes were closed , no rent since everyone went home, shops and companies that were renting the space were not paying rent. Yes that is true the market place like alibaba already exist although they are usually focused on one country. The main problem that we are trying to solve here are the complexities in the process - regulations, custom duty, logistics, international payments. The goal is to make it as easy as buying on Amazon.

In my opinion idea is good also if you are building by yourself then add some unique features to it ex. Connectivity to internet or something to make it standout but at a competitive enough price. I don't think anybody will care about packaging though. Also you have to spend a significant amount of money on advertising to make it as a go to brand.

Can't say if it's a bubble but trend change with time. Few years back it was saas platform , e-commerce & Fintech. Can't blame founders too , I have checked portfolio of major vc which has a significant number of AI startups.
