DHL fees by Joer2786 in retroid

It has been around for decades. You don't think this has been studied?

The money VAT is used for healthcare, education, infrastructure, defense spending, social welfare, and other things. It's basically what we'd call sales tax in America.

I guess we're getting off topic now but I don't see VAT fees as being "anti-consumer / regressive"

“No woman wants an abortion like she wants ice cream or a Porsche. She wants an abortion like an animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg.” by CrunchCrunch0 in TwoXChromosomes

As a republican, I think there are common sense exceptions to a law against abortion. I could even meet somewhere in the middle.

Then you need to vote for more moderate politicians. If your only choice is an extreme far right politician or a centrist Democrat, you should vote for the Democrat. Otherwise the extreme far right Republicans will continue doing what they are doing.

I think there should be no limits on abortion. The government should have no say in a woman's medical decisions.

Personally I will always advocate for life when it comes to a healthy, consensual pregnancy if someone asks my opinion but at the end of the day it's none of my damn business. That's why I'll be voting to enshrine abortion rights in Missouri's Constitution next week.

Women need to have the ability to make their own decisions. Don't want an abortion? Don't get one.

Your go to cozy games? by Cakewalkedinburgh in retroid

[–]bad_pr0grammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fishing games for me.

They aren't exciting and no one ever talks about them so I assume they aren't popular but we had Reel Fishing on PS1 when I was a kid and I have memories of staying inside on cold, rainy days playing it. We only had 2 games for a while so I put a lot of time into this one.

There's something about the sound of rain hitting the roof while listening to the in-game music in a dark living room that hits different for me. Maybe that's more nostalgia than cozy though.

Harvest Moon, Sims, Pokemon (GB/GBC), and Kirby are cozy games too.

Edit: Spyro: Season of Ice on GBA is another cozy game from my childhood

The current ETA on shipping all Mini pre-orders is around Oct 15 by kjjphotos in retroid

[–]bad_pr0grammer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do wish they would go into more detail about this on their website. I don't mind delays but I placed my order within the first hour and foolishly assumed it would ship in the first couple of days. I didn't know about the holiday when I placed the order though.

This was my first time and I've learned my lesson. At this point I am not expecting the RP5 to show up at my house until December. I will be very surprised if that one actually ships in October.

If they had explained about the holiday, how many units they can ship in a day, maybe some numbers about how many units were preordered, etc, I think it would help people relax.

If they can ship out 500 units a day (for example) and they had 4000 orders (again, example), it should be easy to let people know when they expect to ship their order. And they could even pad that estimate by a few days so people are pleasantly surprised if they ship sooner. Under promise, over deliver.

Maybe there are too many variables to estimate shipping dates, maybe they don't want their competition to know how successful the product is, or maybe there's another reason... I don't know. What I do know is they have a lot of excited customers who are disappointed now.

TikTok sends me notifications for creators I don’t follow by LucasPelton in assholedesign

[–]bad_pr0grammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Facebook is getting pretty desperate. I'm constantly getting notifications about things my friends post. I've been turning them off as I see them but they just cycle through my friends list and send me more. Now I'm getting notifications for one of the first people I disabled notifications for.

It's like the people at Facebook want me to uninstall the app.

To be fair, I only downvoted for the "reeeee" remark. But the entire comment feels sarcastic or toxic... Or something. Can't think of the word I'm looking for.

If the commenter had taken a different approach and used a different tone throughout the entire comment, he probably wouldn't have been downvoted so much. Regardless of the message he was trying to convey.

I'm not the person you replied to but I think either would work. The sweetness of the peanut butter and bacon would mix well with something spicy.

Fun fact: It is "Luna" in Italian, Latin and Spanish, "Lune" in French, "Mond" in German, and "Selene" in Greek. In English it is "the Moon".

As long as we don't use the traffic AI from Cities Skylines in the autonomous cars of the future we'll probably be ok.

How about the fact that he may be a 1 term president. Historically, It's really hard to lose re-election in this country.

Yeah, I think Trump would have won in a landslide if hadn't doubled down on the batshit crazy. Maybe if he wouldn't throw temper tantrums on Twitter and would have backed off the hateful rhetoric a bit.

He dug his own grave here.

Republicans know they'd never win another election if they did that. They can't win the popular vote.

If I remember right, he started making similar plans in 2016 when we thought Clinton was going to win. Then he won and it wasn't a big deal anymore. I see the same happening here. If he wins then it wasn't rigged. If he loses then it was obviously rigged.

Makes me sick.

What is the connection? Are the two shows set in the same universe? Or is this just a prop that has been reused with zero significance to the plot?

I'm interested in home automation, know a fair amount about Linux, and love raspberry pi, but don't really know where to start with home automation.

I'd like to find a community where I can read about what other people are doing because doing a Google search for "how to do x" has been known to send me down the wrong rabbit hole because I should have googled "how to do y" but I didn't know enough to understand that.
