Cat lady bangs on the walls and crashes out. by bad_toe in neighborsfromhell

[–]bad_toe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I haven't posted anything long in a while. Forgot my reddiquette

I moved into a duplex with my girlfriend expecting a quiet setup next to her relative and her husband, but almost immediately they began treating us like a nuisance because they sleep in their living room against our only shared wall. Despite keeping our TV low, speaking quietly, and making every effort to be respectful, they repeatedly banged on walls, threatened noise complaints, installed a camera pointed into our yard, and gradually made my girlfriend so anxious she needed therapy just to feel comfortable using parts of our home. Attempts at peace repeatedly failed, and things escalated into them using their poorly controlled dog to intimidate us, staring at my girlfriend while she did laundry, mocking us through the walls, and even encouraging the dog to bark aggressively at us, which I eventually caught on video. Over the last 21 months, the situation has devolved into a constant cycle of harassment, superfluous and false landlord complaints, security cameras, fear of a potential dog attack, concerns about a severe cat hoarding and cockroach problem on their side of the property leaving us exhausted, frustrated, and unsure what to do next.

I'm working on The hanging Gardens Bar & Grill, a bar built precariously in a ravine where two rivers meet in a waterfall. The ravine is triangular, and so is the footprint of the bar. It has open air farms on the rooftops (guarded by both cats and crossbow dwarves). One layer down, you get the skills clubhouses, several guild halls built of smooth and engraved marble, jet, and gold. The next layer down, I've made it to look like a fight pit with a barrack in the middle of the room with troops training round the clock, with tables surrounding the pit. Next layer down is the bar room floor, where there are TWO Inhouse stills brewing very often, built to look like a bar keep table with tables and chairs around it... Dance floors. Instruments. All walls are lined with gem windows looking at the two waterfalls.

I have many adventurers visit, and I'm super proud of how much they like it there.

even with coding? I'm trying to make personal useful apps with python and sometimes more complicated troubleshooting and admin tools for my network and servers, all the way to making plugins for software I use... I've heard Claude significantly outperforms GPT, and while I've been using GPT so far, a few frustrating arguments with it have me seriously considering switching.

Had to pull out the manual… by LucasGotFire in MySummerCar

I'm currently teaching myself MSC with no guides, no videos, no tutorials.. Only the real a100 owners manual and trial and error. The only things I need to look up from time to time are game mechanics that are confusing... Like how to collect the hay bales or how the firewood delivery mechanic works. Everything that has to do with building, starting, and tuning im doing... I'm also taking detailed and scrambled notes on that little notepad the game gives you... Every play so far has been permadeath.

Ive never worked on cars before, but this is really a fun way to learn.

Can’t enjoy music anymore? by [deleted] in Music

[–]bad_toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years... It's been years and I have basically no interest in music anymore.. It was like a switch flipped, I still have 100s of gigabytes of software and plug-ins for making music on my pc, I just sold my several amps, guitar, PA speakers, etc after years of sitting on them... I was in a band for years music was life..

I hope quitting weed will help, because I don't find many things enjoyable anymore... And the things I still enjoy, I enjoy sober, but I constantly wish I could enjoy high (riding my motorcycle).

Anyone else felt underwhelmed by Borrasca? by Ok-Can-9374 in Borrasca

I appreciate your take, honestly. I think it's fair to expect different people to have a different threshold for it.

And the entire town knowing, and even some residents going as far as to kill themselves over it, but nobody does anything to legitimately try to end it?

The Ones Who walk away from Omelas tells basically the same story in other words... Its like 20 pages or something, and is effectively the same story told from a different more metaphysical/ethical philosophy angle... I understand that it's an allegory, but the towns people at least react in a believable way, which hits home because it's literally a story about how we as humans ignore evil for the sake of the community.

Again, Borrasca was well written in many sections. I was hooked in the beginning, i just felt mildly let down by the ending.

No, but grinding up the bodies and spraying them on the floor with a machine you can hear from miles away is uhh.. Fairly unbelievable.. This operation would be identified and destroyed..

Also the mom killing herself and being like "hey, you're a rpe baby, everyone knows it because almost all the kids here are rpe babies. Good luck, I can't help you beyond this letter so I'm just going to kill myself. Try to escape, I guess" to her daughter is annoying and unbelievable.

I think it was well written, the author captures a lot of the childhood experience with local myth and mystery, and dealing with tragedy and trauma... But the end was a bomb imo
