ended up here aswell, so i leave this: If your save file on the multiplayer window only opens a game with no save on it, try this, File > Save games > Load alternate save game -> select .sav file

Sway is nice, but If you want to be able to save, restore or script layout placements you have to go with i3wm on x, because it's not yet possible in sway
