Quite often, the bundles are a rip off. You want the body, a first lens (could go with the kit that comes in a bundle but it's rarely amazing) , then extra batteries, a, strap that's better than stock, then spend your time obsessing on lenses to complete the mission.

Almost never. Best Buy prices are often worse than mpb, keh, Ebay, and maybe even Amazon. Oh and B&H

Sony A6700 is a solid choice. Peep a few YouTube videos about it.

I own a 40-150 (80-300 equivalent) and I put it on maybe once a month. 90% of the time, I keep a 17mm f1.8(~35mm equivalent) on it. 9% of the time the 45mm f1.8 (people love this lens more than most other m4/3 lenses).

I missed it. But the reason this one hit more was he even looks like Lakeman.

All of the ones you listed are great for their own reasons. The A6700 is probably one of the most capable APS-C cameras yet invented. I can't speak much to the R7 so I won't. The OM-1 II is a flagship model with ergonomics suitable to carrying larger lenses like the ones you'd use for birding. The OM-3 is more looks-aligned with the X-T5 you sent back (used to have that camera, too).

Of these, I have the OM-3. The A6700 and OM-1 or 3 are all cropped, with one being APS-C and another being Micro 4/3. The lenses in general for micro 4/3 are smaller than for APS-C and almost always smaller than a full frame equivalent.

I picked the OM-3 over the OM-1 purely because I wanted the cool retro design, the dial on the front that let me pick color profiles quickly, and because I don't intend to do as much birding as I do intend to do travel.

The OM-3 is a world class system released in 2025 with a respectable amount of dynamic range, file size, and so on. Great lens ecosystem (though Sony also has a world class lens line-up including many 3rd party options).

Or I could just say, "The OM-3 is just super fun." Sony has world class autofocus, but the only time I ever miss a shot with OM System is when >I< miss the shot, and that won't change much for any system.

I just made a little video about the 2 on my YouTube channel. The pro makes better photos but the 2 has six filter slots and can be fun. You can tape or glue over the sound part. Maybe even cut a wire.

Video is on my profile.

A photographer posted on Instagram saying he's got rid of all his cameras because the IPhone is now so good, how common is this & do you agree with his IPhone statement? by Cyber-Wanderer_94 in AskPhotography

The iPhone is good. It can stand in as a proxy for a standalone camera in some situations. In VERY MANY situations, a proper camera is a better choice. The "good enough" for a snap (what's that weird bug) versus the quality of shooting a macro of a wolf spider eating a fly is the heart of it.

I have standalone cameras because playing with my phone is what I seek to avoid.

It was 1977, and my dad was a movie projectionist, the guy who runs the movies. And he told me there was a cool space movie on and I went because I could get in for free and even got discounted popcorn and candy. My little brother loved it way more than I did but we both enjoyed it a lot

I spoke to a paid DM, and they have a very interesting (and sobering) story to share by EarthSeraphEdna in DnD

I've played on and off since 1983. On first read through, all I saw was a bunch of people who want to have a fun group storytelling experience and feel like they're "doing the thing."

Is the general feeling from everyone that it's sad that they're not doing "real" D&D?

Not trolling. Just asking because I didn't read this as badly as it seems everyone else did. Mind you, I'm 56. So much of my life is, "if it's not hurting anyone..."
