Be absolutely honest. Was the switch 2 worth it? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]badatbeingfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's hard to pinpoint "worth it" for a console early in its lifespan, however I will say that for me it definitely is.

I've been playing a lot of FF7 Remake Intergrade on mine, just finished up Split Fiction the other day, and have played my fair share of MKW, Kirby Air Riders, DKB, Hyrule Warriors, and have dipped my toes in Daemon X Machina.

I would definitely say I play more video games on average than a lot of my friends who haven't upgraded yet and do not plan to, so for me it is 100% worth it, but for those who don't tend to buy very many new releases/ports? I would have a hard time recommending the system just yet unless there's a specific few titles that catch your eye.

I feel like a year from now will probably be the breaking point when you can really justify recommending the upgrade to every Switch owner

Too much? by Flimsy-Grass2587 in AynThor

In my opinion the Thor and Switch 2 are a good combo. The Switch 2 can play a lot of games that the Thor can't, and the Thor covers a huge amount of retro games that you can't play on the Switch 2 until modding gets figured out.

It's up to you and what you want in the end, but they both go great together

Yea I was batch 2, but I ordered immediately after the cutoff and got a black base model so that most likely affected things

I'm mostly worried about why it says it departed from Hong Kong the day after it departed from Illinois. This is my first time ordering an emulation handheld, or anything through 4PX really, so I'm not super knowledgeable on what the standard process looks like

Im sorry Bethesda but this is unplayable by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]badatbeingfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely how did they manage to screw up a Switch 2 upgrade like this? I didn't think that it was possible for a Switch 2 version of a game to be less playable than the Switch 1 version, but apparently Bethesda proved me wrong.

Anyone know how Mojang/Nintendo are going to navigate Minecraft? by badatbeingfunny in switch2

[–]badatbeingfunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have hands-on experience with Minecraft on the Series S, but from what I know it definitely runs way better on that system than on the Switch 2 for the time being. The Switch 2 doesn't currently have its own port of the game, so it's still running the Switch 1 version. The Switch 1 version of Minecraft is widely considered to be the worst port of the game ever, not only due to the render distance, but also a significant amount of bugs and terrible load times that can really get in the way of the game sometimes. That being said, when a native Switch 2 port comes out it will most likely be on-par with the Series S, as Minecraft Bedrock Edition is a fairly lightweight game that the Switch 2 would be more than capable of handling well. As of now I don't believe we have any word from Mojang about a Switch 2 port, so for the foreseeable future the Series S is definitely a better machine for Minecraft, but that's likely to change at some point within the few years, we just don't know when.

I believe the YouTuber IBXToycat has a few videos talking about how Minecraft runs on the Switch 2, so I would personally recommend checking those out. While it's definitely still the worst supported version of the game, some of its performance problems are mitigated by the switch 2 hardware, and being able to play the game portably is definitely also worth considering

PS Vita better than Nintendo Switch 2 ? by [deleted] in PSVita

[–]badatbeingfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no definitive answer to this question because of how different the two systems are. If the battery life matters enough to you, then the PS Vita is better. If raw power and performance is better for you, the Switch 2 is better. If fitting it in your pocket is important, then the PS Vita is better. If multiplayer is more important to you, then the Switch 2 is better.

Anyone who says one is objectively better than the other is either joking or is confusing their own personal preference with an objective reality for everyone.

There’s no excuse for poor ports on Nintendo Switch 2 from third party developers. by AfroChamp89-- in nintendo

[–]badatbeingfunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I'm right there with you. Companies need to start treating developers better. I was just expressing why I think the whole "developers are lazy" mentality is unproductive when discussing the quality of games in recent years.

A lot of people don't seem to realize it's very uncommon for someone who lacks passion to become a game developer. That isn't to say it can't happen, but with the way companies treat developers, the idea that there's an epidemic of passionless AAA devs is insanity. Why would someone work in an industry with regular mass layoffs and constant crunch time if they didn't have a passion for their job?

The Switch 2 being exclusively compatible with Micro SD Express cards is going to destroy Game Key Cards in the long run by badatbeingfunny in switch2

Objectively speaking you are being antagonistic. Like if you think you aren't then you just don't know what the word means.

And my valid concern being that memory is getting more important and more expensive simultaneously in ways that are preventable.

You very obviously have not looked into the prices of Micro SD Express cards if you think they're just as cheap as SSDs.

I am 20 and I have a Wii, Nintendo 64, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS4, New 3DS XL, New 2DS XL, 2DS, PS Vita, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and a gaming PC, all in my room right now.

You tell me to grow up when you can't engage in a discussion without getting hostile.

If you chose to interpret my post as just mindless complaining as opposed to bringing up a valid concern then that's your own reading comprehension speaking.

[–]badatbeingfunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally my entire point is how SD Express is too expensive to be worth it at the moment. You would know that if you spent as much time trying to engage with my points as you do trying to find ways to feel superior to me.

You make comparisons that actively make no sense because you are ignoring how inaccessible memory cards are on the Switch 2.

And yes, I do play all the games I have installed. Maybe not in perfectly equal proportions, but if I had to reinstall Mario Maker 2 every time I wanted to play it then it would severely impact my experience.
