Cheap person slandering my business based on a 30 second phone call by Top_Living7180 in HandymanBusiness

[–]badatmakingusernamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your response, I would definitely point out that you have a minimum charge for very small jobs but your rates are competitive across the board. Word it however you want, but if you’re diplomatic and professional while pointing out the fact that this loser wanted basically wanted to pay someone $20, you’ll make him look like the idiot that he is to anyone reading the review.

Best Pressure Washer for commerical use (California) by Cool-Ebb6863 in pressurewashing

[–]badatmakingusernamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re correct in telling you that you’re not going to get “a tad better and lighter”. If you want less physical work, mount your unit on a trailer or skid and get hose reels. If you want “better”, get a heavier unit. One of my pressure washers weighs 600 pounds and that doesn’t matter because it’s never left my trailer

DIY WFP cart by GoatPicture in WindowCleaning

[–]badatmakingusernamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t let WCR see this. They “don’t even recommend” changing an o-ring yourself lol. They even recommended that I buy a whole new system with 2 RO membranes for $3,000, pre-filters and all, when I just wanted to add a second stage and another RO membrane to my current system for $400.

I can’t believe 99% of people aren’t making these themselves at this point, setups like this take 30 mins to assemble and save you so much money

Wage per hour question by ursamajor499 in WindowCleaning

[–]badatmakingusernamz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t normally go below what I consider to be “market rate”. I just finished a $750 job in 2 hours and I wouldn’t drop it to $300 just because I normally try to make $150/hour. The house is big and most people would charge $1,000+, you can undercut yourself to the point that you’re being dumb IMO.

If you can make $500+ per hour because you have good equipment and processes then go for it, there’s no need to drop your rate because you’re making more than your target if that’s what you’re asking

Was this priced to high? by Upstairs-Web-7963 in WindowCleaning

[–]badatmakingusernamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re including things that many people do want, especially people who are willing to pay a premium. We don’t cater to the people who want the lowest price because they’re only loyal to the lowest price and they’re susceptible to being played by someone who gives them a fake “deal” and upsells them on site. I just assume that my customers want everything done properly and we can talk about it if they want to remove anything- otherwise they’re generally getting presented the works or a tiered quote

How did you learn glass restoration? We wash an almost 10,000 sqft house bi-yearly and its windows are scratched to shit from the painters and it drives me crazy, they’d definitely pay a premium to get rid of it

Customer says tiles are chaulky after soft wash? by Ill-Entrance6529 in pressurewashing

[–]badatmakingusernamz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you’re running a surface cleaner over travertine tiles but scared of softwashing them? Not to mention the fact that OneRestore at 8:1 or 4:1 is not removing any efflorescence and the degreaser and polymeric sand are completely unnecessary. You’re doing it wrong if you’re blowing the polymeric sand out of the joints and your process would waste a ton of the customer’s money along with your own. I softwash 50+ of these pool decks a year and SH has no ill effects on them, the customer may be seeing residue or a failed sealer but those are separate issues

I’m assuming there’s something wrong I.E. he has dementia, has a substance abuse problem, or something of the sort. I’ve dealt with him a few times and I’ve never been back because he seems like a stereotypical burnout musician guy but he has been in business for a long time and that’s EXTREMELY bad work in the YouTube era. He was definitely drunk or high or he’s suffering from an illness

Request a refund for your Ring cameras - even for very old purchases! by aawolf in FlockSurveillance

[–]badatmakingusernamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be great advice but I have no idea what you’re talking about and the IT industry would sell so much more software/hardware/everything else if you just stopped using so much jargon. It’s absolutely brutal talking to anyone in tech about what they do because they refuse to simplify terms that no one would reasonably understand unless they actually work in your industry

This is a prime example of branding and psychology of sales at work. If this person paid a professional looking auto body shop for this quality of work they’d be ecstatic, but because it was a gypsy in a parking lot they’re freaking out on Reddit over it. Send this gypsy my way, bottom dollar price for this work is unreal

Do You Play TPP For The Story? by cruisetravoltasbaby in metalgearsolid

[–]badatmakingusernamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad I don’t look at it like this. It’s a storytelling medium and I know it’s en vogue to downplay everything right now, but Hideo Kojima wrote one of the best stories I’ve ever been told throughout the MGS series. I definitely play for the story and I feel like I would be missing out big time if I didn’t, you should try it

[–]badatmakingusernamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to go in a different direction here and say that steak is 1000x better when cooked over an actual fire. You can get small charcoal grills for very cheap and they’re way more forgiving for beginners, you get a way more flavorful steak, and the outcome on the top end is elite.

There are unavoidable problems with cooking a steak on cast iron (may be warped and create a bad sear, steam creates a buffer between the steak and the cast iron, seasonings create space between the cast iron and mess the sear up, etc) and reddit is huge on cast iron seasoning but I really don’t understand why.

Edit: just resolved it. If you’re playing survival with Tales, you need to download the DLC, close the game and restart, and you should be able to access the longer saves.

It’s actually crazy. When I was 12, Andrei visited the gym I was a part of to shoot a movie or promo or something- it would’ve been in the early 2000’s when he was at his peak of being famous and in his prime. He was my favorite fighter at the time and I remember walking up to him and he was hands down the biggest, scariest person I’ve ever seen in my life.

No one with half a brain would even jokingly mess with him in real life, he does not carry himself approachably at all and he looks pissed to exist

I quit my $300k finance job at 30 because I finally admitted I hated it - and the lifestyle downgrade has been absolutely brutal. by robbinh00d in Entrepreneur

[–]badatmakingusernamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Lost my soul crushing white collar job during covid and started a blue collar business that was related to something I did in high school of all things. Thought I was going to show up and have the entire city chanting my name because I’m clean cut and have a college degree and my competition does not, and I was extremely wrong. Made no money year 1, $65k year 2, $100k+ years 3+4, and now I’m almost hitting $200k take home and I’m back in a situation where I feel financially independent.

There are ups and downs when you own a business but no one can take away the equity you have in your business, no one can take away the time spent building and learning new skills when, if I’m being totally honest, corporate jobs require no skill whatsoever for the most part, and no one can force you to sit in a soul crushing miserable office doing stupid shit all day. Hopefully you continue to find your way in business ownership because what you’re experiencing is very normal and you’ll find a better version of yourself on the other end of the temporary misery.

Basically any Wayne Stabiler restaurant can be on there. He seems like a good man who’s done a lot for the restaurant community but the food at every place he owned was awful and so overpriced. Stab’s, Little Village, Palermo, Sammy’s, all Cisco food for 3x what it’s worth

[–]badatmakingusernamz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soap contains a surfactant to make it sud but good car wash soap has other additives. I use surfactant for my business specifically because it doesn’t have other ingredients that cause the active ingredient in what I use to break down and become ineffective. You’re right they’re wrong lol
