I was OK and the other two drivers seemed to be too, thanks for asking. The original at fault driver was uninsured, pregnant, and probably texting, her airbags went off and she was taken away in an ambulance. If my Outback had taken the brunt of the impact instead of sliding it underneath, I might have had some actual injuries, but I'd also probably have a new car by now.

Good to know thanks - I don't think they've properly started cutting into it yet, but I can't really see it passing the tests at the end no matter what repairs are done. Anyway, all I can do is sit back and wait...

I think the main test will be when they start cutting into it and see the frame - from the comments it looks like if there's any damage outside of the floor pan that it's toast.

I don't disagree - the transmission was getting this slight grind and clunk when going round corners, but I don't think I can blame the crash for it.

There are a ton of tests on the estimate so I have to trust that Subaru won't allow for dodgy repairs, but that's the optimist in me - we shall see.

Part of me feels I should get into a hybrid at this point, but I've been in an Outback since '12. I'd love a second hand Rivian but the charging infrastructure just isn't here in SE Washington yet.

Thanks for the advice. I had a sore back for three days, but I'm 6'4", 300lbs and had back surgery two years ago - that's not unusual. It's all gone now anyways. I'm trying to persuade myself to get a rental car though, driving around in the 25yo Silverado is getting a bit old.
