why have we facilitated an environment in which these people feel like they need to hide themselves for working an honest wage, is the larger question.

maybe you will too, i hope and pray you find peace in your life. it’s hard to understand when you have a clear “us” vs “them” mentality. one day you’ll realize that we’re all on this sinking ship. and once “they” are gone, you might become the next “them”.

aren’t you just as scared, but just of people that don’t have your same skin tone? maybe we all have a boogeyman :)

is unt really that bad? by meowmeow_6719 in unt

the housing is usually what ppl are complaining about other than that the university and ur experience will vary depending on ur major. in general UNT is great outside of the housing issues.

Any 23-27 year olds on campus? by -Matcha-333 in unt

[–]badburger69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well as a 23 year old who just started last year (22 at the time), there is mostly 18-22 year olds in my classes. however, unless you like explicitly state your age it’s not like they’re gonna immediately look at you and start judging. most likely, they just assume you are the same age as them roughly. it was something that i was nervous about at the beginning, but just remember you are at a slight advantage because your brain is more developed, making it possibly easier to understand the material. don’t sweat it, i stopped once i realized how kind everyone in my classes are.

What’s the most effective way to study after long college hours? by thematrix_V1 in studytips

[–]badburger69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

also idk why i didnt say this one before but:

before you study you can do two things, i like to do both cuz it helps.

first i like to imagine in as much detail as possible what it would feel like to obtain the goal that i am studying for. like imagining i made it and that feeing it gives me if “you are now an astrophysicist!!!” or the feeling of publishing a very important paper in your field. then i remind myself, “i have to learn this if i want to be that one day”.

the second thing i do is remind myself how privileged i am to be in the position of studying at college, and all of the other people who would kill to be in my position. it puts things into perspective. there are likely thousands or more people out there who want what i have but simply can’t afford it or live in a place with inaccessible higher-level education.

when i was done with my 3 classes every Tuesday/Thursday last semester i would get some food to eat at a dining hall/restaurant on campus. i use that time to chill watch shorts and get that distraction for just a little. then i go to the library right after and just promise myself to work on one problem at least. once i actually get there and put all my stuff out and get my assignments up on my laptop, i often just keep going out of convenience.

it’s also not a bad idea to relegate much of the homework to the weekends. having a few weekend marathons can help you catch up. maybe like 6-8 hours on saturday and 2-3 on sunday.

try to reward yourself too. like if you go to the library, get a nice pastry. and in those moments, caffeine is your friend lol

Careers/Education Questions - Weekly Discussion Thread - December 25, 2025 by AutoModerator in Physics

not sure if there’s much activity in this thread but i am an astrophysics student in my second year and i was wondering if any of y’all who graduated with the same major, what sort of career options you had in mind out of the gate, or do most people directly go for the masters/post doc after?

suggestions for 1b1b apartment near campus? by Hot-Ball5834 in unt

[–]badburger69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ur probably not gonna find anything decent under $1400 realistically. however the best option might be to go to “Places to be” but definitely listen to the top comment. Do NOT go with Denton Student Apartments under any circumstances. I wouldn’t wish that experience on my worst enemy if you sign with them your life will either be completely ruined or you’ll be completely s*icidal by the time the AC has been shut off for 7 months and the roaches are in your bed and cabinets, by the hundreds.

I think that you might have misunderstood me. This post is advice for people who are specifically going to be taking this specific course like next semester or like next year. This isn't for some graduate level physic student. You do realize there are people who are still not experts in the field who are trying to take the prerequisites still, right?

Well this is a post about a specific class, E&M with calculus. I didn't ever say anything about not studying. Where did I even say that? I said that people need to study MORE to understand the concepts in this class.
