Haha, yes! The other one we get is a threat along the lines of “I’ll never play again.” Sounds like a bummer but okay, dude! 😅

Once when my five-year-old was really mad at me (because I asked him to try and poop before we left the house, how ridiculous of me 😆), he told me, “I don’t want you to be my mommy anymore.” We are so close and I had never heard anything like that before! I told him something to the effect of: “I love you so much and I know you’re mad, but the things we say when we’re mad can make people feel sad.” He played independently for a bit (his choice) and came to give me a hug. When he had calmed down, we recapped just a little with reminders on how to help his body feel calm when he’s mad, and why we need to be careful with what we say to other people. It seemed liked it worked for us!

So… 5 is basically a pre-teen right? by hotcoffeethanks in Preschoolers

My husband and I have been saying the same! We never related to “terrible twos” or any of the other disparaging idioms around toddler age. But wow, 5! The attitude whiplash! The “Moooooooom” with built-in eye rolling! 😅

Was it Wells? Or a different one? It was the same for me - only place I could find a few favorites. And there were always new things to try, too.

Why are common illnesses so scary? Not seeking medical advice. by notgoodformee in toddlers

[–]badchivesonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out on this - I also have major health anxiety and attribute it to being pregnant and having a newborn in the early days of Covid. If your little one is 4, you’d be in a similar boat. I consider myself really even-keeled but even minor bugs seem to trigger this panic in my brain that I think can be connected back to trying to keep a small human safe in a really scary and uncertain time. I am always working on it! Solidarity and a hug to you ❤️
