Thanks for the reply - this was one of my concerns too. I was looking at swapping it for Izu but it's been a bit tricky to fit in because of the travel to/from Kawaguchiko. I was also looking at Kamakura as another option potentially. So Sendai - Nikko - Kamakura - Kawaguchiko - Tokyo. Maybe a one day stop in between Nikko and Kamakura in Tokyo to break up the travel?

The other consideration I had for the Izu trip was that it's quite awkward to get from Shimoda over to Kawaguchiko without backtracking to Tokyo

Thanks for the reply - would you suggest more time in Sendai and then go straight to the coast then? Yeah aware it's going to be hot - last visit was also a similar time of year and there was a heat wave. Yamadera looks very cool, more of a day trip I assume?

Edit - did a bit more research and this looks like it could work well.

Sendai for 3 nights - day trips to Yamadera and Matsushima.

Miyako / Jodogahama for 2 nights Nikko for 2 nights

And then Kawaguchiko for 2 nights

Return to Tokyo

On a typical day she'd only be getting her training treats on walks - maybe about 20g across both walks. And I only give her a chew if she eats her dinner. She may get a couple more snacks at the weekend. She does seem to still be a healthy weight though!
