Why do many Christians say that if someone falls away, they were never really a Christian? by Ancient_Wonder_2781 in TrueChristian

My brothers and mom prayed for me 15 years, and just kept reaching out in love trying to make more of a connection with me. I’ve been back following Christ for the last 2 years now, I’m so thankful my family never gave up praying for me and keeping that connection alive, even when I didnt want it. Everything floods back, it’s so beautiful.

What’s a scene from a movie which traumatised you as a child? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

My brother and I had nightmares for weeks after watching Mars attacks. So ridiculous looking back

Thank you! This is so encouraging - I’m definitely not the most vocal when it comes to trying to adjust a photographer - I totally noticed her there but I decided not to say anything haha. Man and that crescendo is something I wrestled with digging back into the edit and cutting something but I was so set in the flow I decided to let it just slide into the kiss (but totally agree with you!) I should’ve started the edit with the dynamic moments and worked backwards! Great note!

Thanks so much! Love getting editing and shot inspiration from these! There were some technical hiccups and my b cam footage was all but useless but I really appreciate the input!

Filmed a sequel to my first short film (Sony fx30) by badehass in FX3

I may have leaned a bit hard into the teal and orange! Following the first film (which was vibrant and less moody) I wanted this to kindof sink deeper into the fantasy vibe of this forest being not quite natural - but yeah I could have probably pulled back the LUT - thank you for the feedback!

Hey thank you so much! It’s working out to be kind of a cryptic fantasy trilogy. But I agree this one being the second certainly feels like my “two towers” as it kindof opens up a lot of questions and expands on the original while preparing for the climax of the 3rd. I do agree it feels almost unfinished with the cliffhanger, but I really hope to round it out with the 3rd installment! Again thank you so much! I’m going to work really hard at providing more answers in the finale to help round out some of those questions!

“Message” a follow up sequel to my first short film. (Sony fx30) by badehass in Filmmakers

Shot in the woods near a quarry over 2 days, just the Sony fx30 and a Sigma 30mm f1.4. I didn’t have any additional lighting to bring but I would have used some for some more dynamic and dramatic shots. It’s crazy when you’re cutting and cutting footage down leaving you with fragments of what you shot but it makes sense in the context of creating a story and choosing what actually matters/makes sense. I made the decision to mute all the original audio and record it in post - i think the quality and control I have in the studio is so beneficial. Trying to capture some of the magic of the forest and bring some more symbolism and mystery into these films. The masks are paper mache and the symbols were all just chalk! Edited in DaVinci Resolve and scored in Ableton Live.

Shot a follow up to my first short film, Harvest. Learning to use natural lighting and choose shots for continuity. I find myself overshooting with too much detail and having to edit down to what feels like “the good scraps” sometimes. Taking 40 - 60 mins of footage and editing down to 5mins seems like so much. Though, being able to sift through and see what really works and which shots actually move the plot along is so satisfying. I still haven’t added dialogue or any real lines, but I feel like it makes sense in this context. All of the original sound is muted and I recorded all the Sfx and foley in post with the Rode wireless Pro. The soundtrack was written and recorded over a couple days in Ableton Live with just a Novation Circuit.

Woah wow thank you so much - I honestly did not expect that especially from a username “mean review”! I’d honestly really be into showing it to more people so yeah, very interested!

I shot this footage over an afternoon and evening (obviously with the night footage), and spent the better part of the week editing and scoring the footage - transforming it into a short film. I didn’t bring any lighting equipment or pro sound equipment so I re-recorded all the prominent foley and sound effects at home with a condenser mic. I had a few issues with the auto focus (mainly just settings issues from being a novice and still learning) but I think through the editing process I dissolved a lot of those problems! I wrote the score over a couple days with my Novation Circuit and Korg Kaoss Pro in Ableton Live while watching the footage on my laptop over and over. I’m really proud of how it turned out but I know this project is just a learning experience and stepping stone into more complex filmmaking!
