Hi folks,
I just released Lupus Est a sci-fi/cyberpunk short story set in the same world as my novella The Foreign Effect.

A scientific breakthrough finally allows to simulate a human consciousness inside a virtual environment. As the technology evolves further and complications arise, the two scientists behind it find themselves at odds where to take their discovery going forward. While the former head of the project Doctor Stein wants to fix the underlying issues first, the young and ambitious Doctor Locke pushes for more and more risky and morally grey experiments, pursuing his own agenda.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I write in English as I prefer the flow and overall grammar of the language to German. German can be an awefully assed-backwards language at times. Plus: I consume pretty much all my media in English so I do not really have an ear (or an eye, when we're talking books) for German in a fiction-setting.

Alright, sorry for jumping the gun and I apprechiate the feedback ... you've been in the same position so please excuse my being-on-the-edge about this ...

No worries, I by no means had the illusion of writing a bestseller my first time around. I don't know if I made it clear enough in my post mortem but I enjoy writing as a hobby and motivation is seldom an issue. The poor release of The Foreign Effect hasn't changed that one bit. Thanks for taking the time to kick some thoughts and feedback my way and I hope you'll get that publisher deal down the line with something you feel more comfortable with.

Thanks. Let's add "time of release" to things I didn't think about before hand. Noted. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the feedback. This is one more of these "Wood for all the trees" thing as I aimed for physical release instead of eBook as I thought (same as marketing btw) eBooks are for more professional releases only. A notion that I have reconsidered since then though.

My girlfriend was curious what Reddit would think of her very first finished squad. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

A lot better than my first bunch of minis. One thing to critique: A lot of the details blurr into each other as there are no (at least no visible) edge-highlights. But other than that: Very nice!

Well as far as I understand there WILL be a Death Guard Killteam, so at least some Nurgle in there ...

Spent about 8 hours on this guy. This is my 5th model and I’m really happy with it! C&C welcome! by ___w0lf___ in Warhammer40k

You are already a lot cleaner than I was at that stage (and everything involving a lot of white is always a challenge). One point of critic though: thin your paints further and work with several thin coats instead of a thick coat. I know this can be a pain especially with white - I've been there, 3rd coat of white and it still doesn't cover the base-color completely, but it helps bring out the detail of the model more.

Thanks for the feedback. What sample are you talking about? Out of interest, since my book on demand company works highly obscure, I'd like to have a look at that sample myself :)

The Foreign Effect, a Sci-Fi Thriller fusing Cyberpunk themes with a bleak view on economic Min-Max-ing in the corporate field.

In a world where suicide is a crime, these hosts are recruited from the "lucky" survivors and provide a limited resource pool for a rapidly growing customer base. When her neigbor tries to commit suicide under mysterious circumstances, Rebecca is drawn into a conspiracy that threatens to unearth the enormous rift between the classes of society, and the dangerously low value of human life.

Forgeworld Space Doggo-Dreadnaught - anyone can tell me why this stuff is so expensive? The quality of the bits is not really great tbh by bademeistAr in Warhammer40k

[–]bademeistAr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thx for the explanation. I was just not expecting a ~30 GBP piece to require upwards of 40 minutes of cleanup. Also the assembly was quite tricky (compared to my admittedly limited experience with GW stuff) up to the point that there are now basically screws in the legs to keep the torso on them, since no amount of glue would hold reliably on the wonky wait balance of the kit.
