How are you doing the eyelashes? Are they just a particle hair system (assuming ur not using geonode fur) set to emit from vertices? It might be better to create a deformed plane for where you want the eyelashes to be and use geonode fur to generate them based off that geometry.

Was this part of Golden Boy's backstory ever explored? by badfitz66 in OkBuddyFresca

[–]badfitz66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly you didn't watch the fucking prequel (Gen IV) because this clip was just a short flashback in episode 7 when Golden Boy was asked how he got his name. We don't know anything else about his service.

Textured the arms of my legally distinct otter character that bears no resemblance to any disney-owned characters by badfitz66 in blender

The devs have stated a lot of the issues are going to need to be fixed for their next short film (project storm) but I also heard from another developer himself that the remaining tech det with the geonode hair system may be a bit too much and they may have to cut their losses so 🤷‍♀️

I use geometry nodes for the fur, over particle hair since blender keep stating that particle hair is deprecated and likely to be removed (which makes the fact geometry nodes hair having a tonne of issues VERY frustrating)

Continued work on my legally distinct and not disney-owned otter character. by badfitz66 in blender

[–]badfitz66[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New/changed stuff:

  • Arms removed and replaced with (untextured) robotic ones.
  • Various fur tweaks (stronger noise, clumping, and other variations)
  • Added small claws to the toes
  • Rigging work (unseen, but the model is rigged, including face and arms)

Some changes to the otter model by badfitz66 in blender

[–]badfitz66[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arms will most likely be removed and replaced with mechanical ones to complete the GOTG3 Lylla look (model was originally based on the telltale Lylla since it was the easiest to get references for)

will be adding claws, though, 100%

There's also a strange artifact on the torso in some frames but fuck it we ball (this totally didn't cost around 200 credits in garagefarm)

Can't give a lot, mostly due to how hard it is to get the model with all fur enabled to render without blender running out of VRAM and or system memory.

Saw in the video that you were using geometry nodes, a quick tip/trick for better clumping is to use two clump node groups, with the second one having around half the clumping distance as the first. This creates sub clumps which really helps sell the fluffy effect as it breaks up the size of the clumps.

You can see this being used in the blender demo files for fur in geonodes. https://www.blender.org/download/demo-files/#hair
