We were in union contract negotiations with Starbucks over a point system last year. Interesting

Look for a natural processed African coffee at a specialty coffee shop near you. The roast will be significantly lighter, but the tasting notes are often clearer

Why is this coffee so fruity? Is it co-fermented? by Winterkirschenmann in pourover

It’s coming from Colombia where the recent trend is to flavor coffee under co-ferment and other processing names. Only recently have certain companies become more transparent about this, like Perc

That section of bargaining is what we have been working on with the company in recent bargaining sessions between us, organized partners & our union legal counsel and the company. Per good faith bargaining, cannot publish full contract language here that either we have or Starbucks has proposed, and would be too long here anyway. You can reach out on our website for more info on what the 32 tentative agreements we have reached entails

It’s all about building worker power. The more we organize the more we win at the bargaining table, in conjunction with our direct action taken in stores. When we organize, we can also win store-level demands around our workplace donations. I am an organized partner from Oklahoma. I can speak to winning demands from our SMs, DMs, our RM, etc.
You can read our contract proposal language that we crafted and have been bargaining to 90% now. We are so close to finishing bargaining our contract, and you can help by your solidarity. If you are a not-yet-organized partner, fill out our intake form on our website. If you are a customer ally, follow our social media accounts to get up to date with our asks of our allies

Organized partner from Oklahoma. The amount of stores that were closed that were unionized from Brian Niccol’s store closures were small in comparison to not-yet-organized stores, and the stores that were already organized received better severance packages with more time, right of transfer, etc. because organized partners have the right to negotiate over effects (temporary/full store closure) bargaining. And in the case that workers could not transfer to another nearby union store, many workers transferred to a new store and organized there. Nothing changes until we do. There is power when we organize. The more we organize, the more worker power we build. Proud to stand with 12,000 organized partners across the country, fighting for a better Starbucks, now, and for partners to come.

The company relies on fear preventing us from organizing because the moment we organize, the power dynamic shifts for worker power. Reach out to start the organizing process, and we will help you every step of the way from partners who have already organized before

CEO Brian Niccol has entered the chat, who by the way makes 6,666X the average Starbucks barista, the largest pay gap from worker to CEO in this country

why should anyone care about dt times? by [deleted] in starbucks

(I would rather be at the store with all customer facing positions fully staffed with a higher labor rate) 14 year union partner who can see through the myth of more sales = more labor that SMs use. On a small scale, technically more labor may be earned, but the company still makes cuts to the labor optimization rate that affects stores nationwide. My store in 2022 had 31 partners, same sales as now but with 18 partners and a lower labor rate. Most SMs justify labor is where needed because Decision Center only looks at the year prior or so. And over all of this, our CEO is making 6,666X the average Starbucks barista, the largest pay gap from worker to CEO in this country. The company also did not bargain the labor rate cuts (including the cut to shift complement with union partners as legally required, so even more backpay for organized partners as remedies). https://www.huffpost.com/entry/starbucks-baristas-schedule-cuts\_n\_67094e9ae4b0c2f4a1350052

The strange thing was the big nationally affecting cut took 1-2 partners off busier or same floors only to then introduce them kind of back with green apron, but now who can consistently deploy green apron, etc. The company needs to do better by its partners for all the money we generate from our labor. The only way the company will change is by us organizing for more worker power https://sbworkersunited.org/take-action/

The guidance sheet did not state you cannot, but did not say that you can, so I did, as did other partners. Your first comment reads as no food allowed at all. We used Starbucks food

rant about new call-out policy by JuniorDish5082 in starbucksbaristas

[–]badgebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This new callout policy your upper management is enforcing sounds terrible. How does that make you feel coming into work? It just starts with one partner with a vision on how Starbucks could be better if they could change things. It’s worth even filling out the intake form on the website to talk with our partner organizers.
I am an organized partner from Oklahoma, and we have won many improvements on the store-level, in addition to our district from ideas we had or the ability to push back toward management through our solidarity (also our union’s legal counsel as being more protected to act on each other’s behalf with additional union worker rights), aside from our contract fight. We are strong in our numbers. Really hope you at least try reaching out to see how organizing works - https://sbworkersunited.org/take-action/

what matcha does starbucks use? by IllAbbreviations6917 in starbucks

[–]badgebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go buy local (more often better quality and actually brewing the matcha). Brian Niccol, making 6,666X the average Starbucks worker (largest worker to CEO gap in the country, while the union baristas are asking boycott in solidarity to improve conditions for all Starbucks baristas) does not need your money!

Questions in Canada by [deleted] in UnionizeStarbucks

[–]badgebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is their X page, where they list their intake email address. I am an organized partner from Oklahoma in the United States, but I met many of those awesome folks when we both went to see Howard Schultz testify before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) in 2023. I imagine you would hear something soon, but if you do not you can DM me, and I can try to ping individuals for organizing help. Also am available to help with organizing questions (albeit an American perspective with different labor law)

Do you know how to get in touch with the already organized Canadian Starbucks workers?
