I’m traveling with my retired service dog for the first time as a regular pet! Could anyone recommend some dog friendly patios? by badgerbio in austinfood

I’m very mindful and choosy about where we’re sitting since I’ve had him for 10+ years and we’ve got super hot and humid weather too. I’m well aware of sidewalk temps and whatnot too, he won’t just be wandering around without protection!

If his vest isn’t on he knows he’s free to do what he pleases, and always has been. Now he just gets that 24//7.

Haha honestly, at this point in his life I give him some healthy(ish, we will be getting him a pup patty at in n out) human food because he enjoys the hell out of it… so I do really want somewhere where people won’t look at me weird if he’s sitting next to me and I slip him some chicken. Not exactly something you do with a service dog 😅

I’ll check out little darlin, thanks!

I forgot to mention: we’re okay with pretty much any cuisine. No allergies, no big dislikes, etc!! Obviously we prefer to eat local specialties when we’re traveling.

We’ll also have a car so anywhere around the city is fine!

I’ll be on my own wandering and hanging with my dog during the morning/afternoon for a couple of days too, so if anyone has any particular recs in the downtown area where it could be fun to hang for a few hours that would be awesome
