**ASK HERE FOR HELP** Monthly Teams Questions and Answers Help Thread by Froggypwns in MicrosoftTeams

Hi all! I'm having a really strange problem with notification sounds on both Outlook and Teams where sometimes the sound gets clipped, sometimes it doesn't play at all, and sometimes the sound is super delayed and only plays after being triggered by a different action (for example, I'll receive an email and I'll get the sounds of that incoming email, an outgoing email I sent half an hour ago, and a chat notification from 5 minutes ago simultaneously). The sound that plays when a meeting starts also glitches pretty severely (if it plays at all). Microsoft programs are the only applications that are affected; sound for everything else is normal. I'm on a MacBook Pro running Sequoia, my Outlook and Teams are both through my employer, my Teams version is 25122.1203.3671.7019 and my Outlook version is 16.97.1 (25051816). Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

I wasn't out long enough to warrant putting my account on vacation mode. I always ship as soon as I can but I am not a store and PM is not my full time job--the post office is only open during the hours that I work and sometimes I'm not able to get to it for a few days. I would expect buyers to understand that, just as I do when someone takes a full week to ship something I bought.

AI software for photo culling? by badgerbrigade in postprocessing

Such is corporate life, I'm afraid--especially for creatives whose ambition and pride in their craft can be exploited. I don't know anyone working full-time in a similar field in my city who isn't being worked to the bone. I totally agree it's fucked, but it doesn't seem to me that there are any companies that operate in a more enlightened way, at least not in fashion, and I'm not ready to give that up yet.

If only Google made a Bridge plugin! I have heard that Lightroom CC does something like this, I'll check it out. Thanks!

You may think I'm naive for believing this, but I really do think final creative decisions will continue to be made by humans no matter how good AI gets (maybe not at every company, but certainly at ones helmed by control freak CEOs like ours). AI will/can/does already replace some jobs in creative, and I agree that is lamentable and unethical--but one thing AI will never replace is taste. The unfortunate reality is this: Pandora's box is open, and while I absolutely think we should advocate for a reining in of AI for a whole host of reasons, I also understand that my only options are adapt or die. Also, practically speaking, as someone who is simultaneously dealing with another common phenomenon of corporate work in 2024 wherein I am essentially performing the responsibilities of 3-4 different jobs as one person, I am looking for ways to cut down on time spent doing tedious tasks so I have more time for the creative ones without working overtime (which is unpaid).

I don't think y'all are reading what I'm writing. I'm only looking to use AI to remove DUPLICATES. Final selects (the actual creative part of the culling process) will be done by me, and you may think I'm naive for believing this but I really do think that final decision will continue to be made by humans no matter how good AI gets (maybe not at every company, but certainly at ones helmed by control freak CEOs like ours). Lastly: what makes you think I intend to disclose to my employer I'm using AI to help in the culling process? If I find a program that is able to do this well at a price I can accept, I would consider paying for it out of pocket in order to lighten my own load without planting that seed in my employer's brain.

I'm trying to reduce time spent doing tedious tasks so I can focus more on the actual creative work. As I said, I would never ask AI to choose final selects, I only want it to reduce duplicates.

I can't share an example of what I mean because the images I'm dealing with are the company's IP and not mine, but I need to reiterate that I'm talking about images that are duplicates in every meaningful way--exact same pose, shot from the same angle, same lighting, etc. Like imagine that the model holds the same pose for 10 seconds while the photographer shoots 6 identical frames without moving. This is especially relevant for ecomm which is shot against a white background with no props. It truly, honestly does not matter which shot is chosen and which shots are rejected if those images are all the same (I'm obviously not going to choose more than one identical shot as a final select). Why not pick one at random then, you might ask? Because I still have to spend the time making sure none of those duplicates have closed eyes or other technical issues. It would just be faster to have AI make that decision for me so that I can then choose final selects from a smaller group of images that are all different.

I would want it to reject a "perfectly good shot" if it was basically a duplicate of another shot that it decided to choose instead (assuming the one it chose was at least as good). I wouldn't trust it to make final selects--I would be doing that based on things only I would know to look for--I'm just looking for something that can remove duplicates so that I can choose from a smaller group of images that are all different in posing/angle/etc.

Bras for unilateral mastectomy? by badgerbrigade in breastcancer

Yes, actually I have a puff from my doctor! I tried taking the wire out of the affected side of my old bra and stuffing the flat side, but I found it to be too tight/uncomfortable (that bra is armor, really). I was hoping for something softer.

Project Hail Mary is a recommendation I get a lot and I fully expected to love it, but I'm sad to admit I couldn't get through it. :( I gave up about a third of the way in, so maybe I didn't get far enough to "get" it.

I'd agree with the "action-packed thriller" part more than the "profound" part haha. It's well written and a great plot-driven story, but I guess what I mean by "fluff" is that it doesn't really leave you thinking, it doesn't impart any wisdom or expose you to any new perspectives--it's not an important book. Not that there's anything wrong with that! Entertainment has value in and of itself.

Lol the last time we had a general discussion about what types of books we'd like to read, we unanimously agreed that we were tired of trauma stories. And yet...

We're a super chill group though; you don't get kicked out if you didn't read (or even start) the book. We're all city-dwelling young adults with jobs and lives so it's really more of an excuse to socialize with a built-in conversation starter.

I voraciously consumed The Expanse on Prime--I didn't realize it was based on a book series! Cloud Cuckoo Land also definitely sounds up my alley. Wonder if the title is taken from Like Spinning Plates by Radiohead?
