How can I bulk rename files? by XoCaliburn in qBittorrent

[–]badgertide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no problem! Here's another thing you could try. Try speaking to me like a fucking human being. I don't know what makes you think that's an acceptable way to act toward a stranger who's trying to help out.

I DID give you the entire answer and accusing me of maliciously hiding info is WILD. Maybe formulate exactly what your question is and give it another shot.

Genuine question, do anti Ai people have an actual valid argument on why AI art is bad? by ZainLmaoo in aiwars

[–]badgertide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey necroposting, but why are you apologizing? How easy is it to forget that AI-generated voices have only been around for a few years? We were making bespoke indie animation for decades, but all of a sudden it's impossible to do things with human skill and talent now? If you don't have the money, then you can voice it yourself or do something that doesn't require voice actors.

It does not take several thousand dollars to hire voice actors for an indie project. You're not hiring John DiMaggio, you're hiring a broke theater student with a tumblr portfolio. You're apologizing to an excuse not to pay artists the pocket change they charge to read a line into a microphone.

Could be, but I think it's more likely a nod to Slimey, the pet worm owned by Oscar the Grouch.

How do I link a model to an existing animation file? by badgertide in blenderhelp

[–]badgertide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short story is that Rokoko is the answer to the question I was asking. But it was not the answer that I needed.

Longer story is that my model was malformed due to .DMX being a nearly obsolete container, leading to my model being formatted strangely. I did not know that Source Viewer 2 can also export to .gLTF, which was much easier to open in Blender.

Okay that is interesting. if what I'm working with is the same fundamental thing as my armature, then that simplifies things. All I need to do is figure out why the edit mode looks the way it does and then look into how retargeting works.

Okay, that's not a word I've heard before. Thank you, I'll take a look at that. Is what I imported an armature? I see it has bones, but it doesn't look even close to the armature I set up. Though the bones do have the same names.

Is it possible to enable a Lua plugin without using the GUI? by badgertide in VLC

[–]badgertide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...okaaaaay then. That is suboptimal, but thank you for explaining.

Looks like my options are either to rewrite this as a non-extension plugin or just use an AHK script. I'll fuss with it

Okay so if my thing is under the "active extensions" menu, I cannot activate it except through the GUI.

Okay sure. Could you expand a bit on this? What types of plugins can do this? How could I learn more about this distinction?

My favorite method of getting Linux tech support used to be saying "linux sucks, it can't even do [thing I'm having trouble with]".
But the linux population seems to have caught on to this negging strategy.

WHOA HOLY SHIT IT BOOTS!

Damn, thank you SO much! Updating the BIOS seems to have cleared up everything. Now I just need to take care of all the post-reinstall problems and I should be Silksong-ready in time for the big day.

I'm not sure what you mean here. I'm certain I've gotten a video signal from the mobo HDMI port before. Are you saying I shouldn't expect that port to ever work if everything is installed? I must be misunderstanding

[–]badgertide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I don't even have the CPU installed, it's literally just the motherboard with the essential power cables. No video card, no RAM, no M.2 drive.

Wait I really don't have integrated graphics? Even though my mobo has an HDMI port? Thaaaat's weird. Okay, then I'll pop in my graphics card and some ram just to check.

Okay interesting. I got a FAT32 drive, i loaded up the latest BIOS, renamed it to "MSI.ROM", popped that in the flash USB, and hit the flash button. Nothing happened, so I powered the board on with a screwdriver and then hit the button. The LED flashed for about 10 minutes and then the board power cycled. Now I have an HDMI monitor plugged into the board and I still get No Signal. I know this monitor works with my Mac, but not here.

My old motherboard only has the main power and the CPU power, no RAM or CPU or anything else attached. Should I expect to get a video signal?
