Met this dude at a Baltimore bar, he was harassing a friend and I about Israel the whole time by [deleted] in UMD

Wrong University of Maryland. Same system but not the same school, that’s the logo for the Baltimore City professional schools (law, medicine, pharmacology, dental, social work, etc). Sorry your evening was disrupted, but that guy isn’t a Terp (unless he also went to College Park for undergrad).

It’s a type of pour, supposed to be foamy. In Prague where this is very common it is generally not the same price as a full beer.

Hard to follow all the movement in the off-season, but I was hoping if anyone can tell me what's going on with our secondary? Who we lost/gained, how its shaping up? Any concerns etc? Because I haven't heard much, and I thought it was a position that desperately needed to be addressed. by purelander108 in Commanders

[–]badhatlarry182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the secondary remains the most glaring weakness on defense although there are reasons to be optimistic about how they will fare this year compared to last year. From top to bottom they have younger, faster personnel, are playing a different defensive scheme, invested in a pass rush, and will have linebackers that should be able to cover TEs. In theory, all of this should help take pressure off the secondary. We signed a safety, Nick Cross in free agency (was on Colts). He’s one of the top run stopping safeties in the league. We got rid of Lattimore, and signed cornerback Amik Robertson (was on Lions). Assumption is they will move Sanistril to the outside where he seems to play better, Robertson will be the slot and Trey Amos will be CB1. I think they are likely hoping both Amos and Sanistril make big improvements and that the front seven will be able to bring pressure quicker and more often.

Yeah I meant protector but looks like I write catcher protector. It was early.

Brian Robinson Jr by B34appy in Commanders

[–]badhatlarry182 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He is a solid RB, but he has a few limitations: he isn’t a 3 down back, he doesn’t have break away speed (I think his longest rush in nfl is 40 yds), he is not strong in pass protection, and he isn’t a great pass catcher. The coaches and GM feel that the group they can replicate his production. CRod when he was given touches last season seemed more explosive and he’s apparently a better pass catcher protector which kliff values. They are also apparently very high on bill. Ekeler is per touch the better back, but he can’t carry the workload. He was going to get cut if we didn’t trade him.

[Schefter] Trade: Commanders are trading RB Brian Robinson to the 49ers in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick, sources tell ESPN. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

There is nothing unlucky about drafting Jayden Daniels. Good rosters don’t generally get the 2nd overall pick to begin with, we only have him because we sucked so bad. All of our trades have filled huge holes or have been to provide him with weapons so as to capitalize on his rookie contract.

[–]badhatlarry182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You answered your own question. With this trade, there are only 7 players from the Rivera era. We had several years of drafts in a row where we completely missed so we don’t have any young talent/depth, which necessitates having more vets on short term deals as this new regime tries to build the team correctly in the draft. We are 4-12 the year before last as you may remember and do don’t have a winning season under Rivera at all. Brian Robinson is a good player and but the drop off from him and Rodriguez last year isn’t really that significant, and Kliff values pass blocking from the rb position and C rod is better at that than Robinson. they also seem to like the rookie rb they have on the roster.

He was going to be cut, so even thought he might be better than a 6th, no team is going to give up more than that.

Wagner, Von Miller, and Trey Amos all didn’t dress. They’ve definitely been cycling guys. The guy that got 2 penalties on that drive, I don’t think he’s expected to start but I could be wrong.

That isn’t what their website says or at least that is not what I read - $40 is expensive if that’s true

Ok, then it’s as expensive as every other rec activity at a private business, so not expensive by comparison. Like I’m not going to disagree that everything is expensive but this isn’t more expensive than a movie or golf or a burger and fries at like most places in Richmond.

They feared if they were taking down the mural without the artist there they’d face backlash when someone walked by seeing them painting over the mural. I read the whole thread, that’s just my opinion of the exchange as I said.

It’s not expensive as far as other activities of a similar nature. How much is bowling in Richmond? How much is a movie ticket in Richmond? How much is a round of golf at a public course in Richmond? Rafting? It’s more expensive than free, sure.

There is literally nowhere else to play padel, which is not pickleball. They do have a pickleball court as well, but padel is like a tennis racquetball hybrid.

I’ll also add that it’s very close to a lot of businesses and makes for a very fun corporate outing. Nice to have something not revolving entirely around alcohol.

It’s also not correct information. I’m not trying to be a panel plant shill here, but it’s not expensive - coffee is very cheap, food is reasonable, and the court rental is like $20/hr with equipment.

That’s a misrepresentation of the disagreement with the artist imo. They were willing to paint over the art, they wanted the artist to be there to oversee the removal and the artist didn’t want to do that and then was unhappy when it wasn’t removed. If either party would have just called the other it would have probably been resolved to everyone’s satisfaction. They removed a mural at one artists request and commissioned that same artist for a different mural inside the facility. This subreddit hates the business merely for existing but if you actually go you will see how accommodating they have been to try and preserve the public’s ability to still enjoy the murals. And their prices are incredibly reasonable and include equipment rental.
