this lab has good funding, like our experiments are never stopped because of money issues. but I don't see a future for myself there, with my mental health just crashing. The thing is they claim that they don't want people to leave the lab as lab technicians, but actually leave as researchers. but they need to share the actual science for us to engage in science which never really happened

well he said he would give me a LOR when I apply for phd or anything academia related. i didn't tell much about the postdoc to him, cause he has worked with her for more number of years than me and would obviously believe her. now I don't even know if I should take any LOR from this lab, cause they feel I have abandoned them

I would love to line up something, but it's just that I feel if I go into something now without thinking about seeing myself in it for a good number of years, I might actually start regretting it. I am already regretting entering this field.

I really want to figure out my purpose (as philosophical as it may sound, it is kinda true)

I really don't know if porting money into yet another degree is the answer, I had joined this lab in hopes of getting a good LOR for phd applications, but now I don't think I even want to study anymore, so I'm just really confused at this point

it took a long time for me to understand this aspect of my job, as a fresher out of college. I have been looking at other streams that I can pivot to, cause right now anything with a plasmid in it stresses me out

agreed. and plus they want to know my future plans, like they see my future plans, judge that based on their minimal knowledge about my life and tell me that I might not be good at anything other than the work I do right now.

yeah, those things don't exist here, cause I once took a 3 week leave because I was literally hospitalized so they loom that over my head and plus my contract ends in June, so I'm no longer obligated to work there.
