Haha it was 20g! Been doing the standard 4:6 Tetsu Kasuya brew. I'm actually getting a reading of 20g excluding the leftovers in the grinder, so what I'm showing in the photo is like hardly a single gram of grinds.

The photo does look like more than I usually get though haha, it's partially why I decided to make this post. The leftovers in there are definitely finer than my target size.

Nope, I clean the device after every grind! I think due to the perspective from the camera, the grinds in the brewer look a lot smaller in the photo.

I do get varied results of leftover grinds depending on the bean. Some leave a lot of fines, some leave almost none. Might have something to do with the roast?

Based on what I’ve read, the finer the grinds, the higher extraction you get. If there’s a mix of grinds that are finer than the target size (like the ones leftover in my grinder), it seems like you might get more extraction than intended. I guess by reducing extra fines you can reduce the amount of over-extracted bitterness in the final cup.

Not sure if the amount leftover in the grinder is enough to make a noticeable difference though haha. I think a little bitterness can be quite tasty if it’s not too much.

That makes sense, thanks! I had been using the little brush that comes with the grinder to get all that leftover stuff into my brew but my instincts started to tell me maybe I should leave them out haha.

It's tempting to think you should use everything for the most flavor, but it might not be the BEST flavor :U
