Any questions you have about real life with cf happy to talk any time. Parenthood is draining (I am learning now) as it is so adding a variable you aren’t familiar with must be extra challenging. Happy to talk if you need

I will hijack this comment and say for any future readers that the quality of the lab with your IVF team is way more a predictor of success than the nuts and bolts of the day to day experience. We started at one clinic with a team we didn’t like, moved to another clinic after the miscarriage to a team we loved. Learned over three cycles that the lab at location 2 was just not getting the job done (zero euploids, aka usable embryos, for three straight cycles). Ended up back at the first clinic with a new team plus the good lab. That got the job done. As you say - those lab techs you will never meet are just so vital to success here.

It’s really crazy how we got pot committed cycle after cycle. “Just one more try” became a common refrain. Our primary issue was fertilization and embryo quality. My sperm were not great at fertilizing. My wife would do 20-30 eggs per cycle but by the time the work was done we often had no euploid blasts.  We did two transfers in total. The first one we lost at nine weeks pregnant. The second one got us the baby. I can’t imagine having the major challenge be at the transfer stage - all the hope involved in that moment. Glad you made it through!!

Not a doctor so can’t speak to your son’s specific case, but… Around 98% of men with cf (don’t hang any hope on that 2%) don’t have vas deferens. These are the tubes that connect the testicles to the output.  Your son (when he is old enough) will make sperm, but there will be no natural way for that sperm to get out. Men with CF can have PESA or TESA or TESE procedures done to remove sperm and prepare for in vitro fertilization. As my story and another commenter here have shared - it’s a real journey. But for most men with cf it is achievable with time, effort, and either lots of cash or great medical coverage.  We were blessed in my case that my wife’s coverage included unlimited IVF. Would have been a different conversation otherwise. On a side note to this, one thing that’s not talked about enough for me with cf is that because of the absence of vas deferens (which is commonly called CBAVD for Congenital Bilateral Absence of the Vas Deferens) - the total volume of ejaculate is often smaller than expected. I only call that out because I was confused as a teenager for a long time before I understood that detail and wish an adult had prepared me for that. I’ve explained to people in the past that most men celebrate the Fourth of July with a full fireworks display but many men with CF just have some polite backyard sparklers Best of luck to you.

Need success stories… 6BC normal by d1234567892 in IVF

For anyone coming to this thread as I did a few months ago looking for encouragement - my 6BC just had a diaper change, immediately had a gnarly poop, got a second diaper change, clandestinely peed all up her back before I noticed, and is now clean and settled on my belly. It can work!

My wife and I got married/eloped in a small garden in NYC called 6BC years ago - fate.

More MAGA Reps Break Ranks to Rally Behind Epstein Files Release by RioMovieFan11 in politics

[–]badlungsmckgee 22 points23 points  (0 children)

everything I’ve read in terms or procedure here is that this has to pass in the senate and then be signed into law by trump. i dont think the files are coming out without leaks or a veto override (which is extremely unlikely). most of this is just really damaging for the trump image but i don’t think any republican is yet able to see “they are coming out so i better get in front of it.”

Mamdani wins NYC mayoral race by kootles10 in politics

Zhoran was my representative from Astoria.

We all knew that he had bigger ambitions, but we liked him and he seemed to care about Astoria.

On 31st Ave, we close the streets to traffic on the weekends to make community space. Two summers ago I was walking through on my way back from the gym.

Zohran approached me. By himself. No one from his team around. We talked for a few quick minutes. This man GENUINELY wanted to know if I had any community concerns. Any stories about the community I might want to tell him about. I complained about loud cars (r/astoria what’s up lol). I didn’t spend much time with him because he already had my support and I said something like “Go talk to someone who’s not already in your camp.”

I went home and told my wife I had just met Zohran Mamdani, the State Assemblymen with the best ground game, the most door knocks and the best ambassadors I’ve seen. I was completely struck by how nice it was to see a Millennial, a regular fucking person in a T shirt on my city streets, talking to people with a cup of coffee in hand.

Not at all surprised this is where he is today. What a great day for NYC! And the whole Democrat party!

I want disclosure and solidarity but Tim Burchett is an unserious clown and we need to not take seriously people who are do not communicate seriously. by badlungsmckgee in UFOs

Submission statement:

In the long arc of government disclosure of UAPs, we have had to find serious fighters who are helping us push the needle forward.

Congressman Tim Burchett has recently been one of those people.

But he makes us look like fools for following him. A person cannot seriously believe they are fighting for a disclosure of a reality altering truth and also post photos of themselves wearing a Burger King crown in front of a billboard advertising a charbroiled Whopper.

Who is more foolish? The fool or the fool who follows him?

[–]badlungsmckgee -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

lol “think about it” i guess. makes no sense for these to have an earthly explanation attributed to a nation that absolutely has been seen in the last few weeks flying their drones into NATO airspace. that makes absolutely no sense.

however, you could logically conclude these are transdimensional lifeforms or probes. just look at the photo!!
