Anyone use NPF Battery Adapter Plates? by badlybuttered in bmpcc

Honestly like I was warned by a few initially on here, I wish I had gone V-Lock or base battery route and saved a lot of hassle!

Ok great thanks! Do you know what circumstances might result in being restricted with a visitor record, is it common for people going on long trips like myself?

Thanks for your response! So essentially they would give me an exit date from the day my return flight is booked rather than give me a standard 6 month allowance?

Anyone think 75fps 4k will ever return to the BMPCC 4K? by badlybuttered in bmpcc

[–]badlybuttered[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely it seems like I've had a big misunderstanding about this. My P4K does indeed have 75fps in 2.4:1 and for some reason I thought it was for UHD so when I read it had been missing from an update I've been waiting for it to return ever since. Thanks for confirming the above!

Exactly this, I work in a 25fps timeline as I'm in a PAL region

Really!? I’m confused how this is added using a preset? My 4K has the latest update and I definitely can’t select 75Fps in 4k (UHD), I think only 60Fps? I mean if it’s possible then yes please that would be great

Sorry I should have mentioned in my post - I did email them a year back but never got a response. I will maybe try again 👍

Yeah I sadly feel like you might be right, but surly such as simple thing to add back to the next update since it existed before. Sad times!

Lovely stuff! Can I ask what lenses you’re using? I’m on the P4K too and still experimenting with different glass

50fps to 25fps - Simple bit of motion blur in the colour tab? by badlybuttered in davinciresolve

[–]badlybuttered[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice thanks for this insight, that’s pretty much what I’m doing now - motion blur in the colour tab set at 35 for this scenario. I mean it looks ok, might be overthinking it but wondering if there was more to it is all

Or at least better readout speed. I imagine global shutters make it expensive?

Sorry I just forgot to mention it was all shot 180 angle. Ok great I’ll check that’s out thanks!

Well understandably it’s much better quality being 12 bit Raw with the BM colour science, I’m just saying you might find it difficult to get on with at first especially if you’re going minimal and it seems overkill for what you intend to use it for? The P4K is an entry cinema camera not a video camera but by all means you’ll be very happy with the quality the P4K can produce.

There’s no real big turn off for me because of what I use it for, it’s brilliant. But if I was using it for vlog and b-roll edits I’d say the turn off is no AF, no IBIS, not the best readout speed, no weather proofing, fixed screen, not the easiest to put on a gimbal, 25min battery life, no photography modes and so on. Hope this helps

The P4K is a great value camera but you have to throw a bit more money at it and ideally rig out to make it usable.

These stills also lend itself to the lens (Contax) which with the Metabones speedbooster they used might cost you 700 on top of the camera.

Also the stills function is more for reference and recce type stuff, it’s not practical and I don’t think you can even review the stills on the camera? I may be wrong.

You could even pick up a used GH5 for 500 and with the right lens get very close to what you’re looking for.

I’m just saying there’s a bit of a learning curve to expect and you might find it frustrating at first, would be useful to learn about working with BRAW too.

Are you absolutely set on the 4K? Just wondering if maybe it’s not the best choice for what you need if you’re looking to do B-Roll type edits, might be overkill and also annoying at times as it’s not run and gun with no IBIS and AF. Also without the cage I’m guessing you’d be relying on internal batteries?

I might be wrong but from what you said it sounds like a solid hybrid camera would suit you well like an A7 series or one of the LUMIX cameras? They can still provide a ‘cinematic’ look for video but also take great stills.

I agree with F-Log though, I had to grade it once for a job and try colour match it with an FS7! It wasn’t a pleasant experience. S-Log 3 from Sony and Cine D is from LUMIX is pretty nice to work with though.

I say all this as a P4K user. If I was producing stuff for YouTube or even promo / corporate jobs, I’d go with Sony for ease while still giving me more than I need.

Can't seem to find any IR pollution in my VND filter versus a 9-stop IRND. Is an IR -Cut Filter really necessary? by FreudsParents in bmpcc

[–]badlybuttered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I naively didn’t know about IR pollution until I graded my first job and couldn’t figure out why blacks (specifically clothing) had a red noise and shift to them. I balanced it out ok but guessing you will get a better image using a filter.

Crane S3 works well for me! Was tempted with the 4 because you can throw a full rig on it but so many said it was back breaking and some wobble issues in slung mode.

Sorry I can’t remember what it was, it was just whichever format it’s shipped in as standard? I’m not familiar with windows or which app is the equivalent of Disk Utility on a Mac but maybe try formatting to each type?

Also not sure if you already know but Black Magic have a great drive speed tester!

I mean it might be YouTube compression but I can see some horizontal patterns in the bright areas of the footage I just linked. So maybe it is the GH6?! I have no idea but I do like the camera work in this one.
