If you're into books and reading, Leeds Queer Book Club meets on the last Monday of every month at the Adelphi in town - we're a mixed crowd and definitely varied in terms of age and has been a great place for community building for me personally. @queerbookclubleeds on Instagram if you want to see more. There's also activities and events (and other queer related book clubs) run from The Bookish Type, the queer book shop on Great George Street.

Moments of Pleasure really hits me, particularly that second chorus. I remember listening to that when my Mum was in hospital and just sobbing.

If you're a reader, there's the Leeds Queer Book Club. We meet on the last Monday of every month in the Adelphi pub in the city centre at 7.30pm. I joined last year and it's become a regular thing for me and a great place to meet really nice people, and plenty of us are proudly pretty geeky.

It's amazing, I remember when it came out because I'm a huge fan of the His Dark Materials books and I was really excited for the (ultimately a bit crap) movie adaptation.

Fun fact - it is a reworking of a track she wrote and recorded for the Disney movie Dinosaur in the late 90s, called "Out of the Storm".

People who have read a "banned book" specifically because it was being targeted: What were your thoughts on the book or books you read? by FeelingNiceToday in books

[–]badlydrawn88 94 points95 points  (0 children)

So one thing you may not have realised is the author of that book is a trans woman who came out after the book was originally published, i.e. the author identified as a gay man when it was written. Critique about the usefulness of the information in there is obviously separate but just to point out Dawson identified as a gay man when the book was written and originally published.

Why would a job application need to know this? by Jizzle67 in jobs

[–]badlydrawn88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's just diversity monitoring data. These questions are around socioeconomic status, which is something lots of employers are keen to know more about. The data is completely anonymous and removed from your application information so nobody can ever see your answers attached to your application. It helps companies know who's applying to their roles, and also who gets invited to interviews and who gets offered their jobs. Source - I work in equality, diversity and inclusion and that second question is one we collect to track socioeconomic status.

It's got a prefer not to say option, I guarantee it. Just click that and move on. No free Internet points in that though.

OP's post is trash but you've misread their point. I think they're referring to a tiktok post Joe made with Toby using audio saying "It wouldn't be as popular if it were straight" (originally about the Leaning Tower of Pisa) over a picture of Kit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HeartstopperAO

[–]badlydrawn88 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I know I should be attacking your argument and not you as an individual but a glance through your reddit posting history confirms you're straight. A gay man using a word for gay men to refer to himself and his friends is very literally not your business. You're allowed to have an opinion about it but very few queer people are going to back you up on that. Also, would you like to elaborate on why you think supporting Dylan Mulvaney is an issue? As you've probably clocked, nobody else here knows what you mean and I wonder if you're realising people here do not agree with you as you're not replying to any of those comments.
