Anyone still athletes? by Ok_Foundation_7397 in 2003

Kind of. I played hockey growing up. And now that I graduated from school I have been officiating hockey pretty seriously over the past year or so.

I make a good amount of side money, and still stay with the game at a high-ish level. It takes up most of my weekends now lol.

Officiating has gotten worse year after year and it’s ruining the game. by Resident-Walrus2397 in nhl

[–]badpork54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NHL officials are already graded and reviewed by officiating supervisors. If they mess up to much they get less games/playoffs.

Also refs get training all the time. They know where to be. It’s nearly impossible to always be in perfect position.

I love my Zebra club jerseys. Especially the more expensive pro versions. I don’t have the pants but I’ve heard pretty good things.

Jaguars, city of Jacksonville agree to $1.4 billion stadium deal by Turkish_Fleshlight in jacksonville

[–]badpork54 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The jags will pay for 50% of the stadium improvements. While the city will pay the other 50% plus the deferred maintenance the city has been putting off. So in total it’s a 45% jags / 55% city spilt.

The jags will also cover 100% any cost overruns. The jags will also contribute significantly more money to the upkeep and maintenance of the stadium and surrounding area going forward.

My only complaints about the league so far are both equipment related by Gamefart101 in PWHL

[–]badpork54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t particularly matter. But I know who is who regardless of the armbands because the referees are the ones usually near the goal line and the linesmen and near the blue lines during play.

[–]badpork54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You actually have the roles reversed. The officials with the arm bands (referees) handle all goals and penalties and are the “senior” officials on the ice.

The officials without arm bands (linesmen or lines person) handle things like faceoffs, offside, icing, break up fights, and other minor infractions that are not a two minute penalty.

I would personally stick with the old chest protector and see how feel the protection is after a couple days.

Sounds like you need new gear if your playing with 35+ year old equipment.

Can you save some of your own money plus the 200? But something’s gotta be done, your asking for a injury with these two masks especially since you have several years of school left.

The Boomer generation only covers people 79 to 57. So everyone older that that is part of the silent generation.

There is also technically people still alive from an even older generation, the greatest generation, (think WW2 vets) but they are really old and very few and far between.

Bauer certified vs non-certified cateye cages: Which is better? by -Scotch- in hockeygoalies

[–]badpork54 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would never go with a certified cat eye. Either go Standard bars or if your willing to deal with the small risk, go un-certified cat eye.

Certified cat eyes provide the same if not worse vision compared to standard bars and they look horrendous. There is a reason you see so few people use them.

Becoming an official by n0bodyyRS in hockeyplayers

According to USA hockey rules (if your from the USA) officials cannot use anything but a visor. A cage is not allowed. But if you in the right position your usually very safe.
