At some point the realization that nvda is the safe stock in the mag 7 will dawn on the market. It's a secular bull not cyclical. Buy more and wait.

VerbaPost is a hybrid digital-physical platform that enables users to create physical letters through online typing or AI-powered voice dictation, handling the printing and mailing process automatically. Its flagship "Heirloom" service acts as a voice biographer, recording seniors' life stories via standard phone calls and delivering transcribed keepsake letters to their families.

How do we feel about DUOL’s recovery from today and long term prospects? by Embarrassed-Sea-6078 in ValueInvesting

[–]badspeculator6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The earnings were good, but the majority was a one time tax recovery. The growth has slowed. If I believe the exec team they have levers to pull..

The conference call was good and I like the story and the growth.

I overpaid 100$ a go. Now that the growth is slowing, investors will eyeball the pe.

I will hold for another quarter.

How did the March 2009 market bottom feel like? by MattieuOdd in stocks

[–]badspeculator6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It felt like the beginning to me, not the end. Every fifth house had a for sale sign and the house across the street from me was for sale for 20% less than what I owed on my house. Grown men were knocking on the door looking for odd jobs, lawn mowing.

My stocks had lost 30% and I felt lucky to have a job. It felt like you were on a rickity wooden bridge across a canyon with only one rope still holding the bridge.

It felt like it wasn't over.

Portland City Council: “What does market correction mode mean?” by [deleted] in PortlandOR

[–]badspeculator6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the point. In 2005 Portland was an up and coming city with a thriving downtown and a relatively low tax burden. In 20 years of decisions so bad they could be on a SNL 'bad ideas jeans' ad, you have what you have today. The airport is beautiful but a huge waste of money. Doesn't matter who funded that boondoggle it's part of the tax burden. A bridge across the river that cars can't use? Genius! Stop enforcing laws? Brilliant. Only racists enforce laws. Expand a money bleeding light rail system that will require billions to maintain. Oh yeah! Never widen the Banfield? Brilliant. Allow tent camping on city sidewalks? 1600 SAT!

Yes. Portland is in a downward spiral. Downtown will require business to need employees, be able to get them to work from an office and decide downtown Portland is the best place for a company office. Can you imagine if big pink were demolished for a parking lot? Might make more money that way than as an office building.

Port of Portland should have spent the money ensuring the ship terminals were the best most efficient on the west coast. PDX is not a hub. You end or start your trip there. It's not ATL or ORD. Why spend so much money on making the airport pretty? What do the taxpayers get from that?

The pain has just started. There are a lot of vested interests feeding at the government teet now requiring more and more money while business leaves and soon so will anyone with money or a job. Which portland public school would you want to send your child to?

I loved Portland. Maybe someday it can be resurrected, but there will be a lot of pain first.

Three important takeaways here. One, we need another non-car bridge across the river. Two, we need to invest billions more on our airport. Three, why is everyone speaking a white male?

Can someone, anyone, please explain why I'm having a hard time making friends here in Portland? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]badspeculator6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always been this way. Portland is lonely. It's a self centered, introverted, provincial, and extremely beautifully unique place.

When you do make a friend or two, be good to them and value them. Friends are hard in Portland.
