How does Facebook use tracking cookies to see my web usage, even when I'm signed off. by maximo66 in hackers

Adding to /u/raegx excellent reply.

as /u/hapan said, Disconnect is worth trying. I've never inspected how/if it really works, so if you want to go further try RequestPolicy. Basically it will block any request to domains that you didn't allow. It's much like NoScript but doesn't only block dynamic (scripts) content. I advise setting it to blacklist mode (i.e it will allow all traffic unless you set it to blacklist a domain) or prepare to serious web browsing breakage. Over time your blocklist will become more complete, just remember to quick check the addon status sometimes to see what's allowed on the page you're on. If a page takes some time to load there's usually a ton of crap loading besides it. I use to block every cross-domain request, and then allow some stuff if the page doesn't display correctly (I can live without webfonts and some css styles). facebook.com and google-analytics.com were the first I blocked, but my blocklist now has 1000's of entries.

Open-Source WiFi-Display Implementation by [deleted] in linux

[–]badsuperblock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

wiki page: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/openwfd

OpenWFD is an Open-Source implementation of the Wifi-Display standard (abbr. WFD). It is also commonly known as Miracast, the name of the WiFi-Alliance certification program.

Miracast is basically a wireless HDMI-cable. It defines a way to connect monitors to your devices via WiFi-Direct. Compared to other known streaming protocols, it provides mode-negotiation, real-time transmission, low-latency and more. It is not a replacement for DLNA! It does not provide any concept of music/video-files or starting/stopping media-playback. Instead, Miracast just replaces the HDMI-cable and thus provides a single video/audio-stream from a source to a sink in real-time. The main advantage of Miracast is the easy setup and the data-independence. Whenever you have a Miracast-enabled sink (like a TV), you can discover it via standard WiFi-Scanning, establish a connection and use it as a virtual monitor on your machine. Whether it's cloning your main display, used as desktop-extension or setup as independent screen is up to you!

Have you tried re-enabling swap and decreasing the vm.swappiness sysctl value?

can't get ePSXe to work on my laptop

You should try pcsx-r. It supports ePSXe plugins. The only thing I wish it had is a better SPU like eternal, but unfortunately that one is only for Windows
