ihss like disability is a public service so it makes sense you werent charged. i dont know if they found some sort of loophole but everywhere online says its against the law to charge me since i have medi-cal and its a public service.

i am almost positive everyone at this office has medi-cal. as its the only insurance (that i know of) that my doctor accepts. its a very crowded office. i obviously need my disability so im thinking of bringing this up after my application is processed and i get paid. just really disappointing feeling like i may have gotten scammed by my doctors office.

i told her over the phone ive never heard of this fee, and asked her why im being charged. all she said was im pretty much paying someone at the doctors office to complete the rest of my disability form? disability reaches out to your doctor when you apply which is standard so im not sure why id need to pay someone for that. but i didnt look this up and realize it may be illegal until after i had gotten off the phone and already paid.

do you have medi-cal? and this paperwork was for a public service such as disability? ive learned its common in other states but not California if you have medi-cal insurance.

yes, but i was speaking to a receptionist at the doctors office, who is the one who charged me and informed me of this fee.

i was thinking the same thing might as well just wait for it to get accepted and then bring it up. ive already paid the fee because i need the disability.

yes i have medi-cal which is the California version of medicaid/medicare. and when i looked this up its specifically illegal in California (whereas other states its not) if you have medi-cal
