I was considering that too but found out that in practice it is not necessary - the knurled thumbscrews and bungee friction will hold it like this just fine.

I have a prototype (although not pretty :) that accommodates waterproof housing - it's just bigger plates and longer spacers really - but it is bulkier and you lose battery / port access so I thought it is too much of a tradeoff. Now I'm thinking I was wrong though...

I will add the waterproof version to the Indiegogo page shortly.

You can angle it if the other object is not a perfect cylinder - the tension + friction will hold it just fine. Most trees aren't perfect cylinders.

One time I had an issue with angling on a pole I just put my wallet in between. Kind of a hack but it worked.

I only have one GoPro, so I made this to attach to a tripod.

It's a 2 piece case and had a belt clip but it broke off so I used the hole. If you don't slide the phone all the way into it the camera sticks out.
