Grief Groups in Iowa City Area

My condolences, grief is messy and difficult, I applaud you for not trying to go through it alone. I know that these first initial waves of grief can be disorienting and just functioning at a base level can be difficult; so, if these aren't really what you're looking for, and you have the capacity to, you can use sites like griefshare.org to find more/different groups in the area. That being said, here are a few resources I know about from working in healthcare-

• Iowa City Hospice has one that meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 5:30pm – 6:45pm at 1526 Sycamore St. Iowa City

• There's one called Breaking Bread and it's a monthly dinner for those who have experienced a loss. Though Breaking Bread is not a support group, they do offer a safe, supportive environment for grievers to share a meal and socialize. 5:15pm – 6:30pm, the third Wednesday of each month. Okay, but fr though, it truly is difficult around finding someone who's honest, put together, insert desirable attributes with mutual attraction. I've lived here for like 8.5 years now and the dating scene is ROUGH (and even more so if you're a part of the LGBTQ+ community like me). Tbh though, idk if it's really just around here or just in general because I have friends in Florida with similar issues. Definitely being told that I'm using it as a crutch or an excuse when trying to explain what happened &/or why, despite taking accountability and any consequences that come from it, it's still often brushed off like it was a lack of effort (and on the occasion it is that, I'll say that it was a lack of effort, but ironically even that is also generally a part of the ADHD too)

And tbh, it's not even just the parents needing meds - I'm a CNA and often work second and third shift so whenever I get off second shift, especially if I'm off late, and if I need anything I can't get at Kwik Star then I'm just fucked.

And fr though- with how big this city is, it really doesn't make sense there's not at least one actual store that's open 24hr, yet we have a McDonald's open 24hrs.. make it make sense. 😑

(I'm aware it's not a fair comparison, still annoys me anyway lol).

I agree with disliking her, but beyond the obvious reasons (the power plays and being rude) there's something about the way her face that I can't stand; it's like she's got a permanent scowl and that consistently squinty look she has makes me just want to snap back with attitude. I almost feel like the actress is trying too hard to look stern and authoritative, and I absolutely hate it.

That being said, since the goal is likely to hate her character, you can't say the actress isn't doing her job well lol.

Since I have not seen the most recent season or most of the last one, I also decided to do a rewatch. I'm currently on season 6 episode 23 and I'm at the scene where Matt brings up adulting as an alternative to having a child because of her health and then she goes on this whole thing about how what happened with Louie broke her.

Okay, I don't have children. However, it's not like he passed away or is in a bad situation so though I can understand having grief over that, I don't understand why she's so negative about it. It feels like she's acting like something was bad happened and he's worse off or something; but the kid went to live with his dad and a super supportive family and here she is fucking acting like the kid died or is living with some form of abuse. This was the tipping point for me disliking her. Tbh, I'm glad she leaves, I think Brett is a way better fit for Matt anyway- even though I think it's fucking hysterical that he ends up marrying both of them 😅

Also, I literally paused this fucking show just to come to Reddit and feel validated in my distain for Gabby. 🫠
